I cant find any info on this, other than tutela zc90 which is unavail here as far as i can tell and is unnecessarily expensive. does anyone know how much to put in the blower total, mine is drained. and what do you use ie oil type. thanks ian

If there's a FIAT or ALFA dealer anywhere near you, then Tutela ZC90 should be available. It's a garbox oil so I suppose any similar grade oil should do the same job.... but I think we've touched on this before and if I recall correctly the concensus was that Tutela is safer.
If it's been drained, you'll need to pour some ZC90 into the top 'hole' on the blower and fill the reservoir to about half way. Run the engine briefly then check the oil level. Keep adjusting until the oil level in the reservoir is between 1/2 and 3/4 full - and check it every time you run the car.

...why not run a lighter oil? There are neither extremes of heat nor pressure in the volumex. The bigger blowers, like the 037's, are fed with motor oil. A lighter oil, with better splash, should in theory help get a little more heat out of the ends of the unit, although let's face it, most of the heat leaves via the central housing. The only reason I can see to run a heavier oil is that it may tend to quiet it down a little bit- although again, most of the Vx noise is belt noise and rotor zip anyway.
Frothing would be an issue you'd want to conrol since the Vx reservoir is not really sealed properly, and pressure from the gearbox case would also tend to sneak through the rotor end seals. my.02

I've just managed to get a Lancia factory servicing pamphlet off ebay, it's for the Trevi VX but all thhe engine stuff is the same, I'll get it scanned tomorrow evening and post it here asap. But the iol level in the blower reservoir is 10-15 mm either side of the protruding edge in the middle of the reservoir for max and min. And like you say it's Tutela 2C90.

Yeah me too, about £12, and about 12 pages, there maybe something of use in there for a few members, it's the only VX specific thing I've been able to find in the 9 years I've owned mine.

tutela site found on web, brazilian, zc90 is 80w/90 API GL3. this is lighter than 4 or 5 for non hypoid gears (where bevel gear axis is below centre of main gear roataion) and has light EP effect, 4prob ok but 5 may not be from what i can gather. will try continental in wgtn thansk
