Tim,
This isn't going to be the answer you really want, but I looked at this problem when I got my HF, which the previous owner had put on 185/70-13s. I found only a couple of choices in that size. You can get new Kumho or Sumitomo 'touring' grade tires for about $50 ea., or you can buy Michelin XDX, which were performance tires back in period, and are now back in limited production, for about $450 ea. (not a typo). I found nothing in between. Good luck.

If you want tires for a Scorpion I suggest HTR 200 Sumitomos
as Ed suggested. 195/60 front, 205/60 rear. They are "Summer"
tires meaning gummy, sticky, less Vulcanizing. And cheap for
a 13" tire w/good performance. If you go w/14" or 15" wheels
your tire elections will increase exponentially. Stock, factory
"bow-tie" 13" wheels = reduced choices for 13" tires.

Thanks so much guys for the helpful info! The current tires on the car are Pirelli P400 Touring. This is not my first choice in a tire. However since 13 inch wheels offer a very limited selection for brand new tires, these seem good enough for the type of street driving that I do with the car.
A few years back, two branches of local chain tire stores; The Wheel Works and America's Tires had a bunch (I kid you not more than 4 in each store) of the 185 70 13 P400's in stock. I purchased two sets of 5. One set was for my '70 BMW 2002 (since sold in April of '07) and the other was for my Scorpion. Hind sight is 20/20 for sure! Looking back on it I should have purchased a few extra tires and had them sealed up and stored away for the "rainy day" that is now upon me.
Actually all I really need is one tire to replace the spare. There was a puncture on the side wall of the rear passenger side tire. Since the damage is on the side wall the tire is non repairable I've been told. I know tires are typically sold in pairs so if anyone has any decent (not cracked, holds air and the tread bars are not showing) USED Pirelli or Michelin tires I'd be very open to buying one or two or four as long as they are not over 6 years old.
BTW: There were some 185 70 13's Michelin tires on e-Bay UK the other day. Of course shipping from that part of the world would drive the cost to unrealistic levels. Maybe the bottom line $$$ would come out to less than $450 each? Still not an attractive deal with all the variables involved in transaction like that. Anyway IIRC the seller had the auction listed as local pick up only.
Lastly a rep at America's Tire told me they could get a Falken brand tire in 185 70 13 for $48/ea. It doesn't appear to be very impressive looking "performance" type of tire and is also in the touring classification. If I can't find anything else I will just go this route for the spare and hope I don't get another puncture.
All the best,

Those Falkens are Sincera SN-828, described as "a durable, comfortable and safe all-season tire for compact and smaller midsize cars"--not descriptive terms generally associated with high performance applications...

I found new Pirelli P400 185 70R13 tires for sale here (http://superbuytires.com/tires/model/Pirelli/P400+Touring)for $82 each.
They also seem to have a selection of Kumhos,Coopers, and Yokohamas in that size here (http://superbuytires.com/tires/185/70R13/).

Those are the "new Kumho or Sumitomo 'touring' grade tires for about $50 ea." that I mentioned in an earlier post. They're essentially inflatable O-rings, designed for everything except performance.
The P400s or Avid T4s on Charley's site are a lot more promising.

Interestingly enough, I happen to have a set of 4 new P400s mounted on my original wheels. They've only ever been used to roll the car around the shop and still have the whiskers on them.
Not interested in selling only one or two but might be talked out of the full set. I'd just need to find one replacement to use as my spare because the new wheels won't fit in the tire tray.
