View Full Version : My Spider keeps tossing up!

Hello all. I need some advice please! My 82 Zagato Spider is not feeling well. After driving her for a while and turning off the engine, she will toss up some coolant after a few minutes from the overflow...not much, a small puddle usually. It has been quite hot here but the temp gauge shows normal. A co-worker guessed that it might be caused by a bad head gasket leaking pressure into the cooling system. Any way to test this theory? Any other suggestions as to what might cause this?
Thanks, MR

It could be one of 2 issues I have encountered driving beta's for the last 15yrs.
1. 3-way thermostat may not be functioning properly.
2. Blown head gasket.
3. Radiator clogged up.
If you want to test whether you have a blown headgasket or not (when the car is cold) you could remove the expansion tank pressure cap, start the car up and see if you have small~large bubbles appearing at the surface when you car gets hot "be careful", otherwise talk to you local mechanic and have them put a pressure tester on the expansion tank.
I'd strongly advise you not to drive you car too much (more damage can happen at any time) until you have resolved the cause of this issue.
