Back in the 1980's when I had purchased from FIAT North America (NA) the very last, new Scorpion soft top (FIAT NA told me so), I saved it and did not re-sell it. By that time I had parted out several Scorpions and had a few "used" soft tops from those cars. I was friends with the owner of a very good auto upholstery shop, so I showed him the "new" top I had and the several old ones, asking if he could use the bows from the old tops and using the "new" one as a pattern to make me some "reproduction"tops.
A week later he brought me the first one... perfect! The same type of material, the same way the bows were affixed.. I put it on a car and it was great! I was now in the top business. I sold these for a couple of years and once FIAT NA found out I had these, they even bought some from me. So for a couple of years the Scorpion soft top you bought thru the "official" Fiat/Lancia parts chain was one of mine!
I just came across one of the old, used tops that I would use to make a new one from. I'm not in the top business anymore, so I don't need this one. Anyone out there need one to make a top for your Scorpion? Though the material is ragged (but the perimeter is still intact so you could "pattern" a new top from this one), the front chromed bow, the round center bow and the flat curved rear bow are in great shape... just what you need to make a new top from!
