I was curious if anyone either had a good looking spare set, or might be able to point me in the right direction of finding some roof straps. TMH is sold out and they're looking for someone to manufacture them. They're expected a month or so, and it's basically all I need to finish the car up and I'm antsy to drive it in this nice weather!

Hey Preston,

Don't let that stop you. Drive on! The car won't look as finished, but enjoy your car without worrry.

Mine were missing when I bought the car. The first few months I had it, I didn't even realize there needed to be straps. If the top is closed, the fabric may flap around a little at the edges. If open, everything is tucked away.

Don't worry about it. I've driven my car for almost 10 years without the straps, and I live in rainy Seattle!! The car in fact is parked outside, it does get a car cover when not in use.

I have a set or 2 in my stash, but I can't bring myself to putting them on a car that isn't nicely painted.

Anyway, if you have 'nice weather' why would you have the top closed?

Now that I think about it, what moved me into getting new straps was that TMH's fibergalss hardtop requires them to hold the top in place at the sides ...and the only reason I got the hardtop was that my cats were spending too much time lounging on the soft top ...so I guess I can blame all that expense on my cats...

...but it's nice to have company while wrenching.

TMH has been buying them from Tom Balon in NH. I can't find his contact info right now.

I know Tom was trying to sell his mold some time ago.

According to DJ, Tom sold the molds to Rod (TMH). While a bad thing for those of us paying against the exchange rate, I think it's ultimately a good thing for Scorp/Monte owners that the molds have a permanent home with a reliable vendor.
