Hey guys, I'm Preston. I'm from Boston and have had my Scorpion for about 5 years, and am just discovering this board now. I've been getting messages from the group on yahoo for the past few years, but just got around to posting an introduction there .. I figure I'll repost that introduction here .. so it's not deja vu if you're in that group as well!
I bought my Scorpion about four years ago, maybe 5. I drove it around for a while during the Summer, but there was a problem with the dipstick that I didn't know about and wound up running it out of oil, spinning a main and rod bearing and she ended up sitting for a couple of years. I eventually rebuilt the motor after sending the head / crank / rods to the machinist and getting new pistons. I drove her around a bit more at the end of last Summer and had a blast, but with spots of primer covering paint and rot here and there it drove me crazy that she was a well running junker.
About a month ago I lost my job, and while I've been looking for a new one I've been doing all the bodywork. I welded in a bunch of patch panels where it needed it (fenders, strut towers, the area above the rear bumper, and most of the lower, black undercoated areas) and painstakingly removed every little dent 33 years accumulates while using as little body filler as possible.
She's pretty much done now, I got the paint on her (Zermat silver, it's a Range Rover color), and since the pictures I've painted all of the trim a matte black, gotten the bumpers rear panel and all of the little bits on.
Here are a couple of pics, they're pretty poor quality and not current, but pics are always fun to look at!
