1. Complete dual DCNF system. Carbs are completely rebuilt 40 DCNF's with 29mm venturies. Ideal for street and rally use. The manifold is a aluminum custom one of a kind. The setup includes new low height K&N type filters with crankcase breather connection. Also included, modified stock linkage for 79 and prior cable setups, hoses, clamps and one way flow valve. Jet sets include:
Idles 45 50* 55 60
Mains 120 125* 130
A/C 190 200* 210 220
Emulsion F24* F30

Hello,

Nice looking setups you've got. Is (1) configured for a Scorpion?

Thanks,
James

Not readily, the dual setup for the Scorpion uses a taller manifold and center pull linkage .I am not certain what clearance issues there could be. The single might be made to work if you figure out some linkage. I believe ? the angle on the manifolds required to keep the carbs level are some for both engines but if not someone can post it.

I figured you would have specified if it was for a Scorp, but my novice eyes can't identify this stuff at a glance just yet. So I had to ask. :) Thanks and good luck with the sale.

Since the manifold originally came from me - in a Scorpion parts car - I know the manifold will fit and clear the Scorpion firewall... Jim did an excellent job of making up the linkage for the Beta. I'm sure it can be converted to a Scorpion, but it may take some fiddling.

Thanks John for commenting.. I like to be absolutely certain when I post anything for sale so I did not want to assume anything.

Hmmm, interesting. So I'm guessing the "original" linkage that was used on the Scorpion parts car is no longer available? This is still the dual setup we're discussing, correct?

Yes the dual setup.. The original linkage is not available but it would be straight forward to develop something as the carbs open from 2:00 to 10:00 and the Scorpion cable pulls down. IIRC the Scorpion dual carb linkage from an Alquati manifold could serve as an example. It had a bellcrank type pivot using unequal length arms that got the carbs to open at a faster or slower rate than the pedal travel.
Someone probably has a picture of the Alquati linkage they could post.

See attached. The Alquati linkage simply connected to the stock Scorpion accelerator cable fixture but replaced the stock bellcrank on the fixture with a modified version. Most folks have found that the stock bellcrank can be used with no problems if the linkage is adjusted to suit.

All of the ones I've seen use a modified stock bellcrank, The 'arm' that pulls the carb is extended ab out 1/4" to increase its travel. I'm not entirely sure the stock bellcrank would pull the throttles open all the way. Otherwise, the rest of the stock Scorpion bellcrank/mount is used on an Alquati type manifold.

The linkage that originally came on this custom manifold had a single steel cross shaft with 2 lever arms (secured with set screws IIRC), each of which had a short aluminum link that attached to the protruding 'stud' on the LH side of the carbs. I have seen a better variation of this that used ball-jointed turn-buckles instead of the fixed length aluminum links. I would look at recreating the Alquati style if I were to put these on a Scorpion.

To entice some Scorpion owner to purchase this setup I modified the centerpull/balancing linkage so it is just like the Scorpion dual car setups of old. I don't have the linkage that bolted to the rear carb base but that may be out there somewhere. With the revised centerpull round shaft it will accept a rod end bearing like pictured in DJ's post. It does not affect the Beta linkage in any way. If it does not sell here it is headed for Ebay.
See photo.

...I'm not entirely sure the stock bellcrank would pull the throttles open all the way...

FWIW, at least two owners have told me that they were able to make it work fine and open the throttles all the way with the stock bellcrank by fiddling with the adjustments a bit.

I suppose the progression would still be a bit different but probably not noticable to most.

Hi Jim,

Is the dual setup still available? I tried sending you a PM...

Thanks,
James

I responded to the PM.

I'm guessing the double threaded rod w/lock nuts & ball
joints on either end could be lengthed, screwed out to it's
limit, lock nuts tightened up. Might provide the necessary
developed length for full throttle operation. Maybe . . .
As D.J. stated some have done this on Scorps w/o that
seemingly NLA articulated bell crank. Just a thought.
