I recently saw an ad for a Lancia Scorpion that says is has a legend turbo motor?? The car needs restoration and they are asking $2500. It is the next state or so so from me ,I am in nothern Illinois. and is the closest one I have seen advertised yet. I can not decide, I have been considering an X, then a scorpion, then a 124 sports coupe , which was my first car I bought . Can any one tell me about this Scorpion and the legend motor. Also is there a break upgrade as I heard the brakes tend to lock up !! Thanks in advance.

Legend Industries was the company here in the US that added the turbo to the FIAT turbo spider. If the scorpion you are talking about has a Legend turbo motor, then it will be a FIAT 2L block and head, Bosch L-jetronic fuel injected and have a short 4-1 exhaust manifold with a turbo hanging beneath it.
It will have something custom from the turbo outlet back, because the FIAT spider exhaust system won't fit.
It's a fairly durable motor, primarily because it uses conservative boost, I think peak is around 6lbs.
The guys over on mirafiori.com in the forum can answer any questions you might have about that motor.

I saw the ad, too, and I live about an hour from that car (I'm in Columbus on weekdays). Let me know if you want me to take a preliminary look at it for you...
Also, if you can travel an additional 3 1/2 hours east, there is a very solid project car in Buffalo, NY. I've seen it myself, and it is almost entirely rust-free with good glass and engine. The seller just posted a thread here in the for sale section.
Cheers,
