Anybody have a set of used Series 2 front hubs? Mine were drilled out by the previous owner and now need replacement. :-(
Also I am definitely confused buy previous threads. Are the hubs all the same Scorpion/X19, and just the uprights/spindles different series 1 to 2?
Any info you have would be appreciated.
Thanks!!!

if you livein the US and own a Scorpion, chances are VERY slight that you have 'series 2' hubs. The Series 2 MonteCarlo was never imported into the US and also icludes brake upgrades.
Perhaps you are thinking of the '77 Scorpion with the glass buttress? Many people in the US consider these 'series 2' but they are still part of the first production series.

Hi John,
Thanks for the info!
Yep, I was referring to the glass butresses.
It's forums like this that make owning these cars as much fun as it is.
So all the front hubs are the same between years on US cars?
Are they the same as the rears on Beta Coupes, X19 or 124's?

The stock Scorp hubs and steering knuckles are interchangeable with those from pre-79 X1/9.
It's possible to "upgrade" to the later X hub-knuckle, but requires different length tie rod end. The main advantage for using the later hub is the larger (more robust) wheel bearing, where the stock Scorp front bearing is smaller and a known area of weakness. All that said, I haven't personally done the swap yet, but I know a couple folks who have, and I have the pieces on hand to do it to my car once it's home from the body shop.
BTW, I'm just getting caught up here after a few weeks and I just wanted to say that your car looks great. I'd have been happy to start off as far ahead.

I've done the 'late' X hub/upright swap on my car. Yes, you do have to either use short tie-rods or modify the thresed tie-rod end on the rack. Another benefit to doing this (beyond the larger bearing) is that the later uprights give you a little more Ackermann effect (inner wheel turning more than the outer) as the stock Scorpion has almost none.
If you swap to X parts, do both sides and use the same year parts. There are small variations between the early years of Xs (tie-rod arms in very slightly different locations), I've looked at a lot over the years... However, if you are goint to use the early parts, just get the hub (or remove it from the upright) and put it back into the Scorpion upright with a NEW bearing - so you won't have to deal with it later (or trust that the used X part is OK).

Thanks for the reply guys. I found a set of original hubs which will at least get me on the road. Sounds like upgrading in the near future would make sense though.
Did you notice any handling difference after the upgrade?
