I searched thoroughly back when John, no luck. Got mine from TMH.
Tell your mechanic to exercise EXTRA caution when pressing the old
ones out/new ones in. The brackets are prone to cracking/splitting,
then 'ya gotta weld 'em closed.

John
My understanding is that Monte engine mounts are unique to them.
For practical purposes this would make TMH sole source. I know that Omicron took over Scorpion Reproduction's stock of bits. They may have some?
Sorry cannot be of more help.

Tom

I don't understand why people seem to try and avoid buying these from the MH. Is the perception that they cost too much? Anyone with a background in engineering or manufacturing probably realizes how expensive it is to have a part reproduced in the kind of quantities that the MH requires. Why not just give them the business... We may take it for granted but we are fortunate to have an outfit that supports our cars.

Speciality parts is an understatement! Damn glad someone still
makes re-pros as mine were totally shot. Every shift my engine
felt like it was going to fall out w/the old mounts. TMH mounts
are not only logoed [kinda neat] but the rubber surrounds are
very, ... supple? Worth the price of admission.

Didn't somebody adapt early VW (Rabbit/Golf?) engine mounts? That said, I'd probably still buy them from TMH or Omicron.... they may be more expensive, but like Stinger said, that's the price you pay for a vendor that caters to one specific model. The profit they make from engine mounts may allow them to tool up some other unobtanium part that nobody else would dare touch.

Long before the TMH supplied replacements, I fabricated my own mounts from polyurethane rod: http://www.mcmaster.com/#8695k621/=1cxa39
Works great with the 1.8 engine, but the 2.0 creates a lot of vibration in the cabin. I recently inquired with the TMH to get shipping costs on a set. Exchange rates are down!

I experimented the VW mount thing and went back to my old/used Scorpion mounts. The mounts I tried were '75-84 VW Rabbit/Rocco/Jetta transmission mounts. At least they're only a few dollars each. First problem, they were just a little too large (outside diameter) for the Scorpion brackets. After a trip to the grinder they were reduced to fit but the heat from grinding de-bonded the rubber from the steel lining and they failed in one test drive. I even had ice water to cool them while grinding. Besides being too large in diameter they're too wide as well. More cutting/grinding. They might work if you can control how hot they get. Second, the Scorpion mounts are much beefier, almost solid rubber, where the VW mounts are largely open. If the VW route is all you can get, the Diesel ones might be more robust, and try some urethane inserts from Bugpack to fill the voids in the rubber.

One last remark about TMH. Obviously Rod/Linda don't call in their
order to have 3 - 6 made @ a time: economy of scale & such.
If they're out of stock you may wait awhile. If you need them,
TMH has them in current inventory/stock, I'd grab them . . .

Thanks for all your replys.I didnt mean to sound reluctant to buy from MH just wondered if there was a generic scource.I think looking back on body panels and other bits I must have spent nearly 1K with Chad in the past.
Cheers John Kerr

Geez! Is that ALL? You've got a lot more spending to do to catch up, then. :)

FWIW, at least one fellow used hockey pucks to replace his engine mounts a few years ago. As I recall, they were quite stiff and transmitted a lot of vibration.

I do not want EVER to total up how much I have spent at TMH. As important I do not want my wife to find out either.
Sorry, John, you have a lot of catching up to do with some of us!!

Yup! I made a spreadsheet once and scared myself so I stopped filling it in...

Not to laugh @ you D.J. but keeping track of $$$$-spent? Marquis
De Sade or something? I made a [maybe sub-conscious] promise
to myself 40 months ago to NOT keep track of $$$$ spent on my
'82 LBZ & '76 Scorp. My time/frustration is free. Tracking lire w/
the restoration of Betas is pointless. Well you know that, sorry . . .
