View Full Version : Fuel Tank Sealants

Has anyone had experience (good or bad) with tank sealants such as the one offered by POR-15? I think the PO of my car had run over a curb barrier or large rock, because the bottom of the tank had been dented with a tight, deep crease. The tank was repaired by cutting a large hole in the side so that the dent could be straightened and the tank returned to its original shape, and the resulting tear in the crease was soldered closed (as was the access hole). Anyway, I'm not all that confident that everything was tightly sealed, so I was thinking about using a tank sealer.
Opinions?

I've used the full POR-15 tank kit on my Fulvia tank, and found that it worked well. Cleaned the rust out(it had been sitting half full for 10 years before I got it) and the new top coat of paint sealed a few small pin holes well. I poured in half the recommended amount and coated the inside, tipped it out and disposed of it, and gave it a second coat with the other half of the tin. Leak checked it with some fuel as the car is still under restoration and it was good as gold.

I think I would line it too. I used Red Line brand liquid fuel tank liner for one of my Zagato's with excellent results
