Since you guys are FI savy I thought I would post this here. I have two Fuel Injection wiring Harness both supposedly from a 1980 Fiat Spider. One has an extra wire near the AFM. Is this wire for the altitude sensor? If it is, is there a way to bypass it? Anyone have a picture of what the altitude sensor is supposed to look like.
I'm in the middle of converting a 79 spider to Fuel Injection.
Thanks!

There should be two white wires with a connector there right near the ECU. It's not actually a sensor but a simple plug-in module with an embedded resistor for high-altitude emissions. It apparently just tweaks the ECU to meet emissions standards at high elevations. No need to bypass it. It's either plugged in or it's not. The car will run fine without it.
I can't find mine at the moment, nor any close up pictures of it but here's a picture of what it looks like installed.

Thanks DJ for the info, but mine just has a black single-connector. I'll take a picture tonight.

probably the same connector, I think it goes back to pin 23 (or was it 22?) on the main ECU plug. In DJs case, the other connector shoould be a ground. Late Pininfarina Spiders did have a true altitude sensor next to the AFM, but they were a 3pin plug similar to the TPS.
Just leave the connector unconnected.

I can't imagine how it could work with a single wire. Mine initially appeared to have only one wire but I found that one had been cut and tucked into the connector boot.
