Need a replacement engine cover release wire

I now find that I need to replace the center wire in my engine cover release cable. Does anyone know of a good source for proper wire?

Undoubtedly you have seen the Beta/Beta hood release kit on
E-Bay. I just looked @ my LBZ + my Scorp hood release
cables. Dis-similiar I know. Cobble something up from that
E-Bay offering or do a D.I.Y. w/braided stainless + the crimp
fitting on the loop? Sorry D.J., lousy idea I know . . . .

I have wanted to replace mine before they break but have not done anything with either. I was thinking about looking at the braided and run entirely new housing too. I know there will be some work to get that to work but I really like the idea of braided. When I did my MS I went to the local bike shop and picked up a teflon lined housing and used the TMH inner cable.
