Enjoy! it took a lot of time, work and !!CASH!! to get it like that! please comment! after all, we all need ego boosts now and again right?! LOL Other than the steering rack and timing belt/tensioner bearing/water pump done at the same time, I did all the work. I would have done the steering rack and timing belt stuff, but this was my first ever Lancia and I had those done when I first bought it right away so I could drive it but knew nothing about the cars yet, I even had to talk my buddy I went to school with who I dearly trust into taking it into his shop to work on, he refused at first without even looking at it, I begged him to at least come out and look at it, after he looked under the hood/bonnet, his comment was, "Hu, it looks just like a Chevy Cavilier, sure, I'll do it!", and no I wasn't insulted, I was pleased as that ment he would help me out!, later, I found out it uses the same ignition module as a............you guessed it! Chevy Cavilier! LOL

Nice pictorial story, Jim. Your Zag was gorgeous. Whatever happened to the black 2.0 Liter engine/drive train? Did it end up in one of your Scorpions?

WOW your Zag was a beauty! Mine's almost that nice. Big
exception is I'm not into engine detailing. A 127K mi. un-
touched engine? Zounds! Yrs. ago I was a fanatic: head
came off every 50K for a valve job, needed or not. My LBZ
has 43K mi. so her head's coming off sometime soon [after
I get her running, he-he]. Me Scorp. had 60+K on her when
bought. You got it: off came the head. $468 for it's "re-do".
Never re-built a block, they either got sold or totaled [OUCH].

I sold the engine to a friend of mine in Akron, the tranny also went to Akron to another friend, that I think lives in his or our other buddies SCCA F production Scorpion.

Tragically, my friend I sold the engine to was killed a little over a year ago on his Moto Guzzi in south eastern Ohio, he also never got it installed and it is now for sale, just as you see it in the picture, and it does have a re-surfaced fly wheel hanging on the other end, it's just missing a head and motor mounts to stick it in a Scorpion, it will need a few changes to put it in a Coupe or Zagato, like water pump, it's a Fiat 124 block built for a Scorpion, so you'll also need to bushing it at the drive shaft boss mount, little things like that. I would have bought it back and stuffed it in this Coupe but I am simply too damn broke.

The crank was cleaned and polished, block was tanked and machined, aux shaft was cut and plugged, being careful to not plug the oiling ports, rods were check and re-used, (all machine work was done by a local high quality machine shop by a person who knows Fiat TC's very well, I did all assembly work), pistons, wrist pins and rings are all new, came with the piston set, ok, everything except the block, crank and rods was replaced with new parts, even the crank shims. Most, except real odd ball hardware, was replaced with new grade 8 stainless nuts, bolts and washers.
