Does anyone have a spare speedo cable? I need the end that goes onto the transmission. Just the threaded nut with a maybe 10" or so of the housing. Or, if someone has the short cable that would go to the emission counter box that would work too.

Thanks!

I'll have to look through some boxes but I think I might have still have the old cable from Lucia.

I'll try to look in a few minutes.

Don't mean to hijack this thread but my speedo would stop working once in a while and everytime, I just remove and reinstall the the cable on the transmission end. Is there a trick to screwing that end on correctly?

If the nut is still tight I would think that the inner cable has become rounded. Have you looked at the cable endo to see if it is square? If not maybe the inner cable is a bit too short and it is pulling out?

There is an anvil tool that is used to make the square end. I have one. If you were to send me the inner cable I could give it a few whacks and square it up.

You mean lak theees, Scott?

Obviously, an extremely rare and highly sought part. Give me a few days to check with the major auction houses to determine current value and then I'll open up the bidding. :D

I've been meaning to get the timing covers out to you anyway so I'll stick it in the same box.

Back in "the day" I used to have a local speedo shop make up batches of Scorpion cables for me. I bought new Fiat cables which had the same end fittings so the shop removed those and re-attached them onto "bulk" speedo cable of the proper length. I know I have some NOS Fiat cables in the garage so if you need one let me know. Just pay for the cost of postage and it's yours.

Hey Scott,

I just reinstalled the trany cable end again to see if that would fix the problem but haven't had the chance to drive the car yet. One thing that I did notice is that the tip of my cable is not flat but has a 45 degree angle to it? not sure if that would make any difference

I used to make cables back a few years ago and I would grind the end to make it easier for it to find the hole during installtion. How far out of the housing did the cable stick out? It may be just a bit short.
