I'm about to pull the engine on my 1976 Scorpion (574) in order to do an entire top end and bottom end rebuild and would like to convert the original ignition system to solid state. Please, kind Scorpion-ists, tell me what parts to obtain, from whom and then what install particulars I should know.

Thanks!

I assume that you are only asking about ignition systems.

Personally, I really like the Crane XR3000 system (http://www.cranecams.com/index.php?show=browseParts&lvl=5&prt=161). It's inexpensive as these systems go, extremely simple to install, and works really well. It will mount nicely on the bracket in the front right corner of the engine bay where the 3 relays mount. When I had this system on my car I simply moved the relays to the back side of the bracket to make room for the ignition module.

A slightly cheaper option is the XR700 (http://www.cranecams.com/index.php?show=browseParts&lvl=5&prt=160), but I prefer the 3000.
