Anyone have any experience with this model? after a recent article in viva lancia ive been considering one of these as a less practical alternative / counterpart to my 85 hpe volumex. Id probably want to go for the 1600s form, in red :)

And is it me, or is this one of the few cars where 'viper' stripes on the bonnet look really good?

Alternatives are an early 70s v6 marcos, or just sticking with the volumex

It's a lovely motor  sounds great, looks great, parts expensive and in steel form makes the way a Beta rusts look mild in comparison.....
Andrew at Omicron is probably the bloke to speak to  if you've got deep pockets (kidding Andrew  ).
Just tweak the VX - more fun in the long run

Is it just the 68 -> 70 cars that are aluminium?

And i figured about the parts...
all in all, if i dont despise the marcos when i try it out ill get that, after all, i have lots and lots of manufacturers to cover before i can say ive done it all.

The first 900 odd Zagatos were aluminium, which were mostly 1200 and some very early 1300 S1 cars.

1600 cars were all steel, 700 made, probably up to 80 of these in RHD. Everyones got a red one, they look really good in white with black bonnet stripes. Silver also suits them. It was only the 1600 that had bonnet stripes, in either black or white.

Rust is a problem, but Hamish is not completely true - they don't rust that badly, and remember, they are 12-13 year older than Chris's Beta Volumexes...

Parts - some parts expensive, some suprisingly cheap. However, more repro parts available than the Beta range.

1300 vs 1600. The 1600 from statistics would appear to be better in every respect. More power, more torque, more cc's, more expensive to rebuild etc., If you're thinking of a Fulvia, don't discount the 1300cc version. They too have a very eager engine that just begs to be driven.
