Am SLOWLY putting my '82 LBZ back together & I can't find the
old trunk light bulb. Been to several car part stores w/o any luck.
Would someone kindly pull theirs & give me a #? I'm guessing
it's an OSHRAM. Thanks much.

Maryland Metrics has them listed here (http://mdmetric.com/prod/flosser/flosserprice.htm) using the interchange Philips 12929 is their Flosser # 4088
Here (http://www.lemona.lt/pview.php?img=/LIUSE/Images/12929.JPG) is a photo of one. However it appears that Maryland Metrics has a $50 minimum purchase on their Flosser products,so I would copy the other interchange #'s and try somewhere else.

For crying out loud. Are you guys telling me you can't find a matching bulb or at least one that works in a local parts store?
I've never found a bulb on any half-way modern car that I couldn't match up locally.
This just doesn't look like an uncommon bulb to me at all.

I hope I understood David's post correctly. To me it sounded like he misplaced the bulb in question and wasn't quite sure about the correct replacement bulb or it's part #. And David's inquiries at various parts stores were unsucessfull due to their inability to cross reference or identify the correct bulb from their catalogs. The link I posted to Maryland Metrics interchange lists the Philips #12929 bulb (that I pulled from my Beta) and includes a pretty good cross reference to other manufacturers.
(Philips #12929)-(Flosser #4088 )-(industrial standard #1893)-(Osram #3893)-(Hella # 78223).
I haven't tried to purchase one of these bulbs myself, but I would assume that if you came armed with all these bulb numbers, any good auto parts store would stock at least one these bulbs locally.

I think Charley's right--it's a case of a missing bulb, not a dim one.

That makes more sense. That hadn't occurred to me.
I was getting the impression that it took some sort of special bulb that I wasn't aware of.

Depends on whether a standard 9mm bayonet is "special" :)

Okay Gents, happy ending for that stupid bulb. NAPA got me
a pair. Wagner #17131, Made In Germany no less, $2.75. And
no, turns out, it ain't no ordinary flashlight bulb. Special thanks
to Charley for that Phillips #. I woulda been screwed w/o it.

David:
The operative question for me is:
"Where's the light?"
I just went through my trunk, and I can't find a connection point, much less a light. Is it on the side? It doesn't appear to be on the inside of the decklid, since the spare indentation takes almost all of the center room.
I may think of adding one in my copious free time...

It is immediately beneath the trunk lock "post". Unscrew the two
knurled knobs, peel the carpet forward, look down, you'll see it.
It's easily felt as well. Yellow wire w/black stripes is + feed.
The bulb holder is w/i the lense. Lense slides in a carrier. Self
grounding so-to-speak. I have a spare bulb if you need it. Pro-
vides damn little illumination but tons better than none @ all.
It is unswitched BTW. Parking lights on, trunk light on too. So
don't start looking for a switch like the engine compt. or the
glovebox ARE switched.

AAAAh1 engne compartment may be switched, but ya still have to have the parking lights on for it to work! LOL
Kinda like you have to have the ignition on for the "brake" lights to work, (unlike any American car I was used to which work all the time, key on or off), you know how I know.........you'll love this!...........I spent several days, if not a few weeks, off and on trying to find out why the brake lights were not working on my second Zagato, no it never occured to me to try it with the key on, I know now though! ha ha ha
Know how I found out the problem was not turning on the key?.........not with any of my electrical genuisness or Lancia manuasl, I found out by coming home at night during the time I was searching for the problem on the other Zag in my Good one and just happening to notice the brake lights went out when I shut it off with my foot still on the pedal!.......talk about DOH!.....I truely felt like a dumb ass after that! ha ha ha

Same thing happened to me Jim when I was re-connetting the
rear lense wiring a couple weeks ago. FRUSTRATING! BTW
what I meant was the trunk light does NOT have a switch. The
engine compt. yes, glovebox too. All need parking lights on.
Christ maybe ignition switch on too. I'm loosing track of things
as I do two cars @ once.

BTW, if your missing your trunk light assembly, I have one or two I can mail you for postage out in my boxes, less bulbs I think, it's just a metal bracket and a slide on plastic lense

Extras? Great! I think, I THINK, yrs. ago [when my '81 Coupe was
new] I sliced the carpet up high above the jack/toolkit carpet
cubbyhole indentations & put a 2ND [factory] light in. More light
right where needed. I was quite impressed w/myself. He-he.
