thought i would take a stab at this as well, many thanks to dj for the website and intro area.
my name is brian marler and i am an accidental lancia enthusiast. i've always been a bit of a car guy and have owned many classics over the years. (mostly american) i don't think i could recall all of them if i tried. currently i do design-building of heavy industrial equipment. (mostly timber related stuff)
i try to do all of my own mechanical work, and do my own paint as well. i used to have a small bodyshop when i was a little younger.
i currently own a first series fulvia sport, and an appia vignale. i aqquired these from a family friend whose husband had passed away several years ago. the cars had been in the garage for quite a while and she was sort of holding on to them for sentimental reasons. we struck a deal about a year and a half ago after i convinced her of my worthiness and was awarded my prize.
the sport is in pretty good condition, needs a little rust repair here and there, but i use it as a summer driver. the appy is a little more of a project. runs great and drives good, has nice interior and straight body. it just needs paint and a few details squared away. i plan to use it for a driver when finished, and start restoring the sport at that time.
hope this wasn't too boring.

Brian, thanks for posting. A Fulvia Sport and an Appia Vignale...I'm very jealous.
What part of the country do you live in? I infer from your references to summer driving (and maybe your working in d/b for timber related equipment) that it's somewhere with real winters (as opposed to the ones that Ed and I get here in California).
Thanks again!

Hi Brian, I'm glad you jumped in. That Sport looks great in yellow.

shaun,
i live in washington (olympia to be exact). not really the harshest winters to be had for sure, but the roads rarely dry out until spring. round about march i really start looking for opportunities to get the sport out for a spin. i'd hate for it to get cabin fever!
ed,
thanks for the compliment regarding color. i know it's not the original color for the car, i have located its original red in a few places. but i have come to really enjoy the yellow. it is a real attention getter. i will surely have a real dilemma when it comes time to repaint. i am not exactly a purist but i know original is always best for resale value. not that i ever want to sell, thus the dilemma.
-enjoy your california weather!

Brian,
I completely understand what you're saying about the color; mine's not original, but it's very distinctive. I treasure originality, but when it's time to repaint it (not soon, fortunately), does the world really need another HF in rosso corsa? Sorry to hear that it's too wet to drive; it's all too easy for us down here to take our weather for granted. Our joke is that we don't really have weather--we have climate...

Brian, I've done a fair amount of work in Western Washington, so I understand your comments about the weather. This winter in particular, you seem to be getting a little (sometimes a lot) of everything: first snow, then rain, then flooding.
You do have some great Lancia roads, though.
I'd like to echo Ed's appreciation of how nice your Sport looks in yellow. If it wasn't an original Lancia color, it should have been.

Brian, Please do try to figure out the photo albums; we'd love to see shots of the Fulvia Sport and the Appia. And please do joins the ALC. The ALC web site is being addressed as we speak; it won't happen overnight, but it's being restructured and redesigned. In the meantime, the latest issue of Lanciana just came out, and I think it's worth a look.

i uploaded a few pics of the cars. the quality is not the best but oh well. i found the upload section a bit quirky, but i managed to cope. hope you like 'em.

Thanks for the pics, Brian. I'd love to have both of those cars.
What did you find quirky about the photo albums?

hi dj,
thanks for the great website! the only problem i had when trying to upload was that sometimes i got internal server errors, or connection errors. when i got connection errors i would load a different page to verify connection and then return to the albums and try again. it sometimes took 5 or more trys to get the picture to upload. if nobody else is having these problems then it must be an issue with my computer i guess.
best regards,
DJ

brian,
My hosting provider (my son) may have been doing some things with the server. He recently moved us to a newer/faster server and is still finishing up some things.
Please let me know if this continues.
