I guess its my own fault :) DJ offered helpful info about rear window leaks and I said, no, I only have a small rust problem in the drivers footwell.

Well, I pulled the interior tonight so I didnt light it on fire while welding up the floor....after I shop vac'ed up the lakes under the seats I fully understood what DJ was trying to tell me....

The good news is the floors are still solid, but they are heavily surface rusted and obviously I have quarter window leaks to deal with. I will start with wire brushing them and then a liberal coating of RustBullet (anyone who is still using POR15, I implore you to try this stuff, its great) I will have to reseal the windows of course too.

Still struggling with figguring out how to remove the panel behind the seats as there is obviously moisture behind it as well and I want to dry up and seal coat everything while Im in there. I didnt fight it too long because I was already over frustrated from dealing with the wonderful engineering feat that doesnt allow the seats to go back far enough to get an allen wrench firmly on the seat track bolts.....

Found the screws at the bottom obviously, what else holds this on?

Jim, Pull the seat cushions. Two rubber wedges under the front . Holes in the bottom of the seat frame allow access to the front track bolts. The rear bulkhead cover is held in by the seat belt anchors, rear edge of the center console and two screws on the leading edge in addition to the door frame trim and quarter window trim. The rear slips into a channel below the rear window. Check the rear window carefully for leaks, particularly the bottom edge, as it is the most common source for water entering the car.

Stupid seat covers concealed the fact you could pull the seat bottoms to get at the bolts, I spent an hour with an allen wrench 1/4 turn at a time. Oh well, I know better for next time :) Thanks for that tip.

I plan on stripping everything out and sealing it well. If I have to go to the first autocross without carpet or paneling so be it, no point in rushing to put it together and leaving a serious moisture problem in place.
