The swatches are on several different pages. Can you tell me what colors you're looking for?

And please PM me with your e-mail so that I know where to send the scans (also give me any size limitations on your e-mail--the scans can get quite large)

Hi!
I just joined the forum. I have a Fulvia Rallye S, MY 1970, (VIN: 818360015572). I am in the process of having a fender and the hood re-sprayed. The color code that appears on the sticker in the glovebox is Max Meyer 1.711.7497. I cannot reference it anywhere in any list or forum on the web or even in the Viva Lancia Parts Manual CD. However, I found a reference in a previous version of the Manual( circa 1968) and it appears as Lancia Blue Acrylic AT, Lancia Code 6984192. I cannot cross-reference it to any Glasurit, Lechler, Lesonal, Dupont, etc. paint code. I am based in North America and a Max Mayer code is not something that one's friendly neighbourhood paint supplier is easily familiar with...Could someone direct me to a source where I could cross-reference it with anything? As usual, to make matters worse, the car is at the bodyshop at present, and the painter is pressing me for an answer, as one would expect.
Any help would be much appreciated.

None of the Fulvia paint codes I have has a Max Meyer 1.711 code; all of the MM Fulvia codes for the S1 Coupe are either 1.306 or 1.346. Your post mentions blue, and if your car is blue, the good news is that there are only 3 blues, and you can't mistake any of them for the others.

Blu Lancia is a midnight blue---almost black unless it's in direct sun;
Blu Mendoza is a medium blue, fairly bright;
Blu Jamaica metallizzato is a dark blue metallic.

If it's Lancia or Jamaica, my earlier post has the codes for Glasurit, which is easy to find in North America. If it's Mendoza, you may be able to find a cross reference to the Max Meyer or Lechler codes in my earlier post.

Of course, if it's not blue, please let me know what color it is (or what color you think it might be), and I'll try to help with that. I can also send you some scans of color charts, if that will help to identify which color you have.

Finally, I'd really appreciate it if you could PM or e-mail me, as I don't have your chassis in my Fulvia register of cars in North America, and I'd like some additional data.

Thanks,

R Forest

Hello Ed
I imported my Fulvia from France a few years ago. I live in Montreal, Qc. It was not sold in North America. The VIN I gave is copied from the registration papers of the car. I do not have access to the car right now, since it is at the bodyshop 60 miles from here but I have no doubt that it corresponds to the actual VIN of the car.
As for the MM color code, it was telephoned to me by the bodyshop. Again I asked them to repeat it 3 times, since like you I had never seen a reference to a Max Meyer number with a number starting with 1.711..., and I could not believe my ears. But I found the reference in the Catalogo parti di ricambio published in Nov 1967, as updated in Feb 1968, at page XXV. It is identified as Lancia blue, not Mendoza, which bears a different number (1.313.7205). But Mendoza blue is sintetico while Lancia blu is acrilico. There is another reference for Lancia Blue, in nitro-sintetico: MM 2.252.7069, Lancia code 6981191. My car is blue and the outside color corresponds to the interior color( trunk, engine bay, etc) . It is dark blue, but far from midnight blue. Just a nice blue.
I can fax you the pages from the catalogo if you provide me with a fax number. My scanner is out of order for the moment.
Best regards
R. Forest

I've sent you an e-mail with the fax and the data points we're looking to gather for the Fulvia Register for North America. There's really no need to fax the catalogue page, though.

From your description, it seems certain that the color you're looking for is Blu Lancia (also referred to as "Blu Scuro", or Dark Blue); this makes it pretty easy. I'd recommend that you use Glasurit LAN 174; this is available in several different paint formulations, and should be easily obtainable in Canada. Paint colors were adjusted over the years; I have a Glasurit swatch book covering ca. 1966 to ca. 1978, and there are at least 3 different codes for Rosso Corsa, and at least 2 different Blu Lancia codes. But for 1970, Glasurit LAN 174 would be the correct one.

Incidentally, my S1 parts catalogue (11e edition, March 1975) has Blu Lancia as Max Meyer 1.346.7069 (Lancia code 6980032).

Good luck.

Just to ensure you your body shop is not seeing things I have gone through all my spare part catelogues (I have 4, each different year of publication) and I've never noticed it before but the earliest one I have (1967) has a completely different paint reference page to the later TAV's I have, giving not only different references for the colour, but also for the type of paint (synthetic, acrylic etc).

And the number for Bleu Lancia (acrylic ) is Lancia 6984192 and the MM number is 1.711.7497 (MM is the only supplier).
