I should be able to post some superlatives later this week, since Fenice (I'm gonna drop the Il/La since it'll confuse too many people) will be back in my hands on Wednesday after 2 1/2 months in the shop. WHOO HOO - I can't wait!

But here's the question for the panel - when I went over to the body shop that was doing the work to have the frame supports reinforced to the b-pillar, the guy said they could do more if the car had a rollbar.

WTF?

I thought LBZs had roll bars. Anyone care to comment?

BTW - the body/auto shop is high end - works on Ferraris, RRs, I saw a Lotus Esprit there, they're connected w/a club where you can pay to drive a hi-po car for a day - and they were all smiles when I told them I owned the Lancia. Everyone was commenting on how 'cool' the car was, and how they'd be happy if I brought it in on their occasional show-off days. THAT was nice... They also do AMAZING work.

Maybe he was just referring to a proper racing-style rollbar/cage, thinking it could be made to stiffen the car's frame...?

Unless you have rust which would impair structural integrity a roll-
bar is superfluous. Zagatos tip the scales approx. 80 lbs more than
a Coupe. Been told that extra "meat" was soley dedicated to "beef
up" the B pillar/targa bar for rollover protection. I, regretably, rolled
my 1ST '82 Zagato years ago. Multiple times. The roof panel not only
stayed on but one could still easily remove/replace it. There was ZERO
deformation of the A pillars [windshield surround] nor the B pillar/targa
bar. It was/is a very robust design.
