Almost everyone I spoke to without exception did not like the location for this year's Concorso which was held at the city of Marina Airport which actually 10 miles north of the city of Monterey. The tarmac of the airport runway does not compare to the pretty green grass and nice trees of a well kept golf course. There seemed to be a notable absence of cars this year as well. Since there is virtually no shelter at the air port from the winds and fog coming off of the Ocean/Monterey Bay it got really cold in the afternoon and people started to leave early, the first time I had ever seen anything like this, reminded me of watching an SF Giants game in old wind blown Candlestick Park.

My vote is that I won't be going back to the Concorso Ialiano again until it moves locations to a nicer, greener setting.

Are there any other thoughts, opinions, predictions of what is going to happen to the Concorso for next year?

Tim,

As I said on that other forum, it was really great to meet you there, and I completely agree with you about the venue--simply bleak. The Candlestick Park analogy is really apt, except al least you got a game there. I won't be back if it's at the airport again.
