My washer bottle finally gave in after 22 years service and cracked where the plastic had become brittle from sunlight exposure a few weeks ago -
I got hold of one of the Beta Boyz reproduction ones and fitted it (an excellent reproduction part, only thing I had to do was slightly file out the washer pump hole to accept the original pump).
And the mystery of this little job - 3 ten pence pieces I found below the original washer bottle, 2 dating from 1969 and one from 1973!
Given that my car didnt even set UK currency until it arrived at the dealer at the earliest in 1984 this seems a bit of an oddity! the coins are of an older size that was withdrawn in 1992.
However the question remains.... how on earth did they get there? did the first owner check the washer fluid level whilst holding a fistful of change? what kind of person does that lol
Anyway, just thought id share this peculiar little find :)
