Next Step? We have 2 tanks, 1 dented, patched, beyond repair. We chose to use 2nd tank that looked good on outside, but inside full of gunk,etc.. Took it to Good Radiator repair shop does alot of Tanks. Upon inspection we were advised once he stripped Rust and Cleaned it would fall apart! He felt too thin already and leaking. ARE there any alternatives to this fatcory tank? Any option I may be missing? Currently looking, but none available. I'd appreciate any advice. Jerry

Two options,
One, you can look into fuel cells, Jegs, Summit Racing etc......I found one once when looking around that was almost identical to the lancia tank dimensions and I think would be able to be bolted under the trunk with minnor modifications for fill hose etc......it was like $200 or $300 at the time if memory serves right
The scond option is wait another week or so, I think my problem is the suppluy hose or pump, not my tank pickup as previously thought as full or empty, it's acting the same way and I think the pumps sputtering, not so much a sucking air problem as I previously thought, I'll let you know once I get the tank and pump out and investigate a bit further, if my tank is fine then you can have this spare one I have from the Chicago rust bucket. I jjst haven't had a chance to attack it yet as I was running out a full tank of gas since I put it back on the road, I finally got it empty pretty much driving to Mid Ohio last weekend for the NASA races, this weekend is American LeMans and IRL at Mid Ohio, (plus I had one of those dang steriod shots in the spinal cord yesterday), so no time or ability this weekend for tinkering
Personally, if I had the money, I think I might go the fuel cell route, just cause it's a new item with no possible issues a warranty won't fix! LOL

There are going to be some practical issues with fuel cells. I've had them in a couple race cars. You've got to find a shape that fits under your car and can be mounted there, either strapped up or hung from the floor of the trunk by cutting a hole in the trunk and using a sealing flange. Then you'll need to get a filler hose from your existing cap on the outside of the car to the cell without taking up too much of the trunk with piping. Of course, you can raise the trunk lid and fill the cell directly which is often the race car route but you are asking for fumes that way. I think I'd try to find a modern auto tank that fit, had the sensor for gas level (which the cell probably wont have), and had the tank inlet at a place where you can make an adaptor to get from the filler hole in the trunk deck to the tank inlet.

Try gas tank renue. They will fix any fuel tank.
My Beta's tank is still perfect since using gas tank renue. It is worth the cost.I used Moyer's franchise shop located in Greensburg,Pa. But there are other dealers listed on the franchise's main web site.

You can readily buy the fuel cells with level sensors in them, (the one in the Factory Five Daytone Cobra Coupe we built came with one, we just had to spend a little time adjusting/ dialing it in for full and emtpy on the float, they have adjustments for that so you can coordinate them with your gauge), and they are offerd in so many various layouts and also custom made layouts, that the only promblem finding one that works well is wading thru all the ones out there to choose from. the one I found a year or so ago was at Summit Racing and would fit perfect under trunk, had a level sensor included and had the fill pipe on the right and side of the cell close to the stock location but not exact, not sure if the stock fill hose would have worked and I doubt it would have, but that is just another one of those "wander the parts store hose isle" till you find one that will and fork out the $25 for one, then do not foget to write the hose number down somewhere for future use
I am pretty sure my tank is fine Jerry, I am pretty sure it's either the pump trying to die or the regulator isn't working properly. I just won't have time to mess with it till later in the week at the soonest, I did burn out some more fuel this morn on a cruise with my 3 year old, so I hope it's about dry and ready to drop now, I hate getting gas all over me and the floor! LOL

Thanks for the info. Both tanks unfortunately are too damaged, rusted out. We did find a Columbus co. that probably can build one based on ours Around $300 minimum:mad:
Jim, my dad also saw some at JEGS and Summit as well. I'll look them over and decide. Good info, thanks!
If any has tried a different tank on a Zagato please let me know.
I appreciate the help if I can help anyone out I'm in Ohio couple hours from Jim Keller. Might have a few parts down the road. Decided best route is Combining 2 Zagaos to make 1! Need fuel first!!!! Jerry
