One fuel filter, less than 3000 miles usage :(

Id been wondering why the fuel pump sounded a little strained..

So... course of action? get the tank out and have it renu-d or whatever they are called, new fuel lines.... am I going to need a new pump too?

Better than a metal encased fuel filter you can't see through. P.S.:
no decent Lancia mechanic has clean fingernails.

No doubt about it your tank's had it. Might not need a new pump though. If you do you need a new pump you can get them on Ebay:-

I don't know what the Beta tank has in the way of strainers before the fuel pump, but I've just had the tank out of my Fulvia and it has a nice fine brass mesh to hopefully stop any of that. While it was out I've sorted the indide of it with a POR15 tank recon kit, the cleaner is overpriced and I think any decent cleaning solution would be fine, but the rust remover and internal sealing paint seemed to work well. After I'd left the rust remover in and sloshed it around a few times as the instructions tell you, I left it to fry in a paint booth at work at 65 degrees C for an hour and a half, then gave it a few good whacks on the sides to loosen up any thing else that was hanging around. This worked really well and I had a lot of flakes come loose. So after I got as much out of it as I could I blocked up all the large openings and poured in the sealer, nice thick silver paint that managed to get all over the inside. Looks like a bought one!! And it sealed up a couple of pin holes too that had been exposed when I glass bead peened the outside. All in all a couple fo full days work but I don't think I'll ever need to attend to it again.

My Beta's tank is still perfect since using gas tank renue. It is worth the cost.I used Moyer's franchise shop located in Greensburg,Pa. But there are other dealers listed on the franchise's main web site.
