I got some spare parts with a scorpion parts car I have & I was told the cams were 40/80. Is there any way to I.D. these -
Thanks

The aftermarket cams are almost always forged so the surface of the cams between the lobes should be machned and not rough. If you remove the end plates in the cam housings (opposite the pulleys) the cam ends should also be marked with the manufacturer, Alquati etc. 40:80 cams are about 10.3 mm lift typically (although the 40:80 refers to timing not lift).

If you ship them to NY, I will be happy to degree them for you and return them with a nice 13"x19" color graph of thier exact profile, lift , and duration.
A quick look at a 40/80 cam will reveal it has a much more rounded lobe than your stock cam, which has a fairly pointed lobe. In the case of an aftermarket cam, it usually will not be a cast cam, or have the FIAT cam number on it, although it is possible to regrind a stock cam to 40/80, in which case the more rounded lobe and reduced base circle will be the giveaway.
More info on cams is available on the FIAT_TC_Motors group at yahoo.groups.com
DJ had them here, but apparently they have disappeared.

These are labeled BM 44/4/M/77. They looked forged, but the lobes are not oo rounded - more pointy. Any ideas?
