My Wife, kids and dog packed up Friday evening and took off for her mom's till later tonight, (Woo! Hoo! quiet time!),.....Sooo....I have been further crippling myself in the very hot and humid garage ever since <happy grin>, it's amazing how much you can get done without the "honey do this", "honey do that", "daddy I want this", "daddy do that" interuptions, you can actually focus on what the heck your doing and get things done! of course, lots of Vicoden, Advil, Budwiser, breaks to catch up on TV racing helps too! LOL

but all that babbling aside, I:

1) dug out, cleaned and dyed black all my console pieces, (Note: if your going to dye yours
black, get two cans of Duplicolor black dye, the console material is a very pourous
molded rubber like stuff that really soaks the dye up, could be from 30 years in the sun
too of course, but they sure look much better black than green! LOL

2) Dug out my box of hardware stash and sorted the shinny from rusty hardware

3) set up my portable wire brush/grinder/buffer, (A 120V Craftsman drill mounted in my
vise), and cleaned all the brackets, bolts, nuts and such I couldn't find suitable
replacements for.

4) Removed, tore down to the tinniest of pieces my wiper assembly, gathered the best
looking and condition pieces of 4 assemblies I had sitting around, cleaned, lubed and
assembled a very respectible looking and working like new windshield wiper assembly,
then re-installed that including new wiper blades

5) Dug out, cleaned and installed like new hood latches and hardware

6) dug out, cleaned several like new factory wiring harnes plastic and metal clamps and
installed them in their proper locations, (not all is finished with that yet, it's a continuing
saga, doing sections one at a time as I go thru it), propery routing all the harness in the
process

7) Replaced and mounted the small fuse box that was buggered up for a like new one

8) re-mounted the large fuse box from recent engine bay cleaning teardown with new nuts,
washers and bolts

9) Replaced hundreds of nuts, washers, bolts, screws and several brackets for un-
cooroded ones

10) and god knows what else along the way I have long since forgotten! LOL

It is now 12:43 EDT Sunday, I have about 6 more hours of alone time to work on the Beta, so right now I am just taking a break to evaporate off, (in the 90's and very humid today), rest the muscle spasms and aurthritis and run to town for more beer!...........
.....Soooo......Whatayabindoen this weekend? (;-)

Back to the sweltering garage! Woo! Hoo!.........Ouch!

Jim, you just made me violently ill!

I drove the Zag for a 30 minute run down 95 this morning before it got really humid with the new muffler, still have a small leak somehwere near the manifold.

So much better with a new Cat and a real muffler instead of a glasspac

Stay cool!

This weekend I was mostly anxiously awaiting my new distributor.

Its arrived, and unfortunately is the wrong part which is very annoying. Especially as I asked 'does it have this part number on it? does it have the vacuum advance and ignition pickup?' and got a yes to all those.

What theyve sent me doesnt even have a vacuum advance or pickup. grrrrr

Well I'm paying for it today, I can't see any of my knuckles or wrist bone in my right hand, (the only one that works decent), from arthritic swelling and it's kinda painful, lower back screaming, left arms dead, neck is pulled tigt with spasms, but it's a happy pain this time! cause it was created by having fun instead of working on the house! LOL....and it'll settle down over the next day or so if I stay away from the car........like that's gonna happen! LOL

I feel your pain some Chris, been waiting almost two months for a motor mount from IAP, (I am pretty sure it came in last Thursday as they hit my credit card for it fiinally, so with luck, it'll be here today or tomorrow), which is good as it's given me time to go thru the car and get everything else in top working order. I am just about finished up, did WAY more than I planned to this soon on it due to that delay on the mount, but I can't complain about that now can I? ha ha

Will only have the suspension and body to do next winter by time I hit the key here in a week or so.........I hope! < insane laughter >
