Hi all,
I have a question. I recently bought an ANSA muffler on ebay for my '76 Scorpion, but I discover that it is not a straight bolt-on to my existing (standard?) system.
Were there alternative systems fitted to the Scorpions? If so does anyone out there know what manifold/pipes I would use to bolt up to my ANSA muffler?
Cheers and thanks in advance,
Rob

Gonna sound dumb, but the Ansa muffler was designed to fit the Ansa headers..... Hard to come by (in one piece anyway). There have been a couple people who have adapted the Ansa muffler to the stock downpipes.
If you gonna go that route, use the manifold/downpipes from an FI Beta. MUCH better than the stock (awful) Scorpion emmision stuff..

Doesn't sound dumb at all. My knowledge of Ansa stuff is obviously limited. So it seems the simplest option would be to have a custom pipe bent to fit between a manifold (I'll look for a Beta FI one) and the muffler flange.
Thanks again. Cheers,

You'll need a ANSA or CSC Primaflow header, and J-pipe to do it with stock parts. Other wise you'll be into some bending and welding.
I dunno about the Beta setup, I guess you could, but I think it runs back, where you really want it to run to the left.

I found a Beta manifold at Applemotors on the weekend. And now it looks like I have found an Ansa header.
Thanks for the replies guys. Very informative.
Cheers,
Rob
p.s. I promise I'll get some photos of #1255 together soon!
