I have now been working on my Scorpion for about 3 years now. Its pretty much as good as I can get it, so I am debating moving onto another Italian project. My next question is, do I keep the Mighty Scorp or do I pass it onto someone else to enjoy.

Here are photos from last weekend: http://web.mac.com/developered/Site/Scorpion.html#grid

Any thoughts?

Only 3 years? You're not nearly done with it yet, my friend!

I'll give you 500 bucks for the old heap. You may have to cover delivery, though. :D

Is there some reason you wouldn't keep her AND move on to another project? That's my plan. I'm just currently limited by space but we're working on that.

If you do decide to sell her, there are at least a couple of folks here who've been looking for a good Scorpion. Personally, I'm looking for a nice Beta Coupe for a "driving restoration" project but could "settle" for the right Zagato or even a sedan. I'd also consider a FIAT 131/Brava or a 124 Coupe. I do love these twin-cam engines.

Here is the scoop, I have 3 cars and they are in three different locations. Unfortunately, everytime I want drive the Scorpion it takes 45 minutes to get to it. My options are paying $300 a month for a storage space, leaving it where it is or parting with it and getting something like a Lambretta to restore.

I am not convinced I want to part with it, but I am not really ready to buy a 4 car garage with a 1 bedroom apartment on top of it, which is really what I need...

A scooter? Heck, you can restore that in your living room! ;) I'd like to get a couple of Italian 2-wheelers to restore myself. Just some with slightly larger displacement.

I do understand the space thing, though. We currently live in a townhome with a 2-car garage. And of course, I only get part of the garage so it's a pain to do much in the way of projects.

Your apartment/garage needs sounds exactly like what I intend to do as our first step. We intend to buy some acreage in a warm part of the country near salt water and with no state income tax. We intend to live in our RV while building a 3 to 4-car garage with large apartment above. Then, we'll live in the apartment while building our new, larger, home. The apartment will eventually become my office/workspace and the garage will house the current vehicles. Eventually I'll also build a true restoration garage and probably more indoor parking space as my fleet grows.

Gotta have dreams, Man!

Christ D.J. you're my age! That's quite an undertaking: all
that building. As for 3 yrs. & far from done, w/all due re-
spect, we all progress @ varying rates: restoration. 1ST
we gotta find all the parts. Then the daily or weekly time
devoted to wrenching. We all know this. I'm pretty much
retired so I devote [or waste] alot of time to my two cars.
And also why I'm an inveterate daily PITA poster. HAH.
And yes storage is always a REAL bitch issue. Why Dan C.
had two of his Betas towed off a couple weeks ago. If you
elect to sell Ed I hope someone in the community buys it
& does so for a "fair" price. Good luck.

Hmm....does a 2car garage plus a couple of bedrooms full of car parts equal a four car garage? How about living rooom, dining room, rec room, and basement full of tools/parts?

When you say "larger displacement" did you mean Ducati, MV Augusta, or one of the Piaggio brands, DJ? Did you know Piaggio is really a FIAT company? and, isn't Lambretta ALSO a FIAT company now?

OK while I was typing this I wiki'd Lambretta to see if it was actually FIAT (the answer is yes, and no) and there is a picture of a Bertone- styled Lambretta Luna in X-1/9 "puke green", or as I call it "Gatorade Original Flavor". You just HAVE to get this, and a green X , and show them together Ed!

That's right. I'm still a very young man. My wife's getting kinda old though.

Fair enough. But that was mostly tongue-in-cheek.

Well, you better hurry up, Ed. I just heard an ugly rumor that there may be a really awesome Scorpion coming on the market soon and it won't be cheap. I'd buy it if I didn't already have Lucia. I'm not spilling any more than that.

Yes. Among others, Ducati, Maserati, Ferrari, Cagiva, Agusta, Moto Guzzi, Aprilia, Laverda, Bennelli, Bimota, etc. At least one of each. 8)

Hmmm. I wonder if Benelli made factory gun racks where I could carry my new Benelli shotgun. I guess I'd need to get a period-correct piece, though.

OH man that lime green is fantastic!

Anyway, I am tied to the DC metro area for a couple more years, then ill head someplace warmer and with cheaper garage space..

I rode motorcycles for years when I lived in the midwest, but all of the current bikes are too tall for me. So I found a couple of these: http://www.lambretta.net/images/know-your-scoot/LARGE/SERVETA/JET-200.jpg Which would fit in my car space and are easy to rebuild.

Who knows...
