Well I bit the bullet and collected it on sunday, 200 odd miles later back home, initial thoughts are good happy to sit at 65mph little more effort to hold 70mph not bad for a 41 yr old 1216cc. Light switch is a little confusing, and it seems to smell quite petrolly when the windows are opened. Steering is extermely light when moving and there is a bit of tidying up to be done on the body work.

Where does one get wiper blades?

Anybody got a clock for a 67 series 1?

Also current owner has being adding castol valvemaster, as it is a series 1 is it advisable to continue or is it safe enough to just go unleaded and use the money to save for a new engine in 5 odd years time?.

Anyone in Ireland use this forum?

Nick,

Congratulations!

Sounds like you could use a copy of the owner's manual; good repros can be obtained on eBay or from Omicron http://www.omicron.uk.com/index1.html.

In the meantime, the light switch is the round knob closest to the steering wheel; pull out for parking lights; rotate clockwise and pull for low beams; main beams are controlled on the steering wheel stalk that also controls the directional indicators--push the stalk forward for main beams.

I'd stick with eBay or Omicron for wiper blades (plenty on eBay any time) and clock (shows up regularly on eBay, but not predictably).

Save your money on the valve additive--you don't need it. The S1 valve seats are hard enough for unleaded without any additives. The strong petrol smell isn't normal; sounds like you may simply need new gaskets and seals on the carbs. Rebuild kits are available on eBay (they seem to be available all the time) or from Omicron.

Others will have to answer if anyone in Ireland uses this forum, but in addition to this one there are a couple other forums you should also be on:
Lancia Motor Club Ireland: http://www.lanciaireland.com/forum/
Viva Lancia: http://www.viva-lancia.com/
Viva Lancia has forums in several languages, and is also a good source for spares and classified ads.

Other than that, enjoy it! If you haven't spent much time driving one before, the driving dynamics are a real revelation, particularly compared to British cars of teh same vintage.

Cheers,

Nick

Many thanks, worked the light switch out alright, just once when going from main to dipped using steering column they turned off altogether !.

That's definitely 'non-standard operation'. It's either a bad stalk switch (see previous recommendations for spares), or a wiring fault somewhere, or a bad relay. Are you getting switching power to the relay?

under investigation I think it was more that the light switch had not been rotated completely and I ended up with park lights.
