Ok, the Beta Coupe is running very nicely. Today an electronic oddity showed up and it's got me baffled.

Car at rest ignition off, the headlights on the car function properly and can be turned on prior to ignition. Once you twist the key to run, the parking lights all come on and the dash lights. Suspecting a faulty light switch, I check for current and the light switch is functioning as it should.

Wiring. Blue/black wire from ignition switch connects to red to power light switch, yellow out of light switch (eventually) to fuse 1. At rest blue to red has power, nothing coming out of yellow. Turn the ignition to run, the parking lights come on and the yellow out of light switch still shows no current! Start the car and turn on lights, the parking lights get a bit brighter and yellow out of switch shows current. This is absoltely maddening.

Now, the only way this could be is if Yellow has a fray somewhere and a power source is laying on it? Right?

*** Just added one variable, unplugged the light switch entirely... and the parking lights stayed on....*************

Any help is appreciated. Subject car is a 1978 Beta Coupe US version. Thanks

Dan

Just went out, changed nothing and the problem went away. I'll try hunting this down when it gets more consistent.

I'll have to try that one. I never would have thought to do that. :D

so it'll work when it's good and ready. Thinking about this, I beginning to suspect the ignition switch is on it's last legs. Time to find my spare.....
