'81 Beta sunroof question/steering wheel hub?

I'm gathering myself to put some time in on my '81 coupe. The car is right except that the sunroof doesn't raise at the backside when closed. My various Beta repair manuals seem to have nothing on this. Anyone familiar with this problem or know of written advice about disassembly/removal etc? Secondly, I'd like to replace the stock steering wheel. I have a nice Sandro Munari Ferrero wheel and there are Momos, I guess, but I know of no hub/boss source. Anyone know of anyone still selling these? I expect I could adapt the Ferrero.

Common enough problem, I think I have an exploded diagram of the sunroof mechanism. Though I might be imagining it. Sure it cant be persuaded to close? try holding the back edge up whilst closing the handle. Works for mine if its feeling stubborn.

go to the english language forum and click into the beta section. once there you can search old messages using the word "sunroof." there, i think you'll think other discussion about this same problem.

i've been fortunate with my sunroof. no problems.....yet!!!

Yes, the above was true for a while, but finally now lifting the rear no longer works to close it. It needs a areal fix!

Hi Johnny,

You need to click on the Beta forum called "61 Beta, Beta spider, Beta Zagato, Trevi" , then you can search from there (change the timespan to "All Dates").

There was only three posts on "sunroof", so I have included the links

I'm working on one at the moment. Is this the metal sunroof that slides back into the roof section? If so, drop me an e-mail and I will send you pictures and give you whatever help I can. Mine is out of the car at the moment so I can show you what the working parts are supposed to look like if that if useful.
