I have to report that my beta is repaying my kindness with endless pain! It started with a service. A week of annoyance with the carburettor later it was back to life. Then a cv joint died. Then the ignition amp died. Then the drivers door courtesy light died (no problem you think? the spark died with it!!!!). Then the carb died again. Then another new as yet untraced ignition problem has no starting again. It must be 2 months since ive been able to use it reasonably!

Chris,
I'd sympathise with you, only my car is having its registration sorted as I type and I'm not looking forward to a potentially - nay, probably - sizeable bill.
Amongst which includes an overhaul of the old Weber - the car's consumption is about 20mpg or something of Optimax (not cheap), but none of the extra petrol is going into extra performance, it's all leaking out onto the manifold. I figured it was probably a good time to get it sorted before the whole lot goes up in flames. New cambelt too...
Ouch.

Yup. I was going to go for the 40dcnf route but irony, I didnt have a car to drive to the scrapyard in! (actually, i lie, I havent got round to putting the new brake calipers on for the mot on the other vx, plus need to sort a slightly faulty ignition switch on it) Then of course you have to tax it....
