I recently purchased an 81 lancia Beta. Aside from a bunch of little problems i have found and fixed, i still am faced with a mysterious heater motor problem. For some strange reason, the heater motor continues to run when the key is turned off. The heater moter will opperate nomally, changeing directions from defrost to other vents, but when "heat" or "vent" buttons are pushed down the motor will run even though the key is removed. Also, when the ignition is on the "max ac" and "ac" buttons do not trigger the blower motor to turn on, even with the booster motor turned on "hi". Does anyone know what could be causing this problem? Please let me know.
Thank you.

i'm surprised that someone more knowledgeable than i has not taken the time to respond to your heater motor problem.
based on my less than professional mechanic opinion, it sounds like maybe the prior owner of your car hot wired the blower motor because the fan switch stopped working, or perhaps a short is continuing to supply the fan motor with juice.
possible source of problem:
fan motor switch
fan motor resistor
fan motor
nonexpert mechanics failed attempt to solve the true source of the problem
another useful source for expert advice is the lanciabeta email list on yahoo groups. have you signed up for that yet? the difference between this board and that list is that when you post your problem to that email list, hundreds of beta enthusiasts receive it almost immediately. while with lancisti.net, folks must click into your message in order to see it. feel free to email me at goldtown43@hotmail.com for assistance with the yahoo group or any other beta issue.
