The most frequently asked question I get concerning Montecarlos and Scorpions is 'Why did I buy it?'
The answer, of course, is a secret.....

I bought mine because it looked so good and it was supercharged!

I'm still asking myself that question- although it's been therapeutic, and solved the problem of all that extra cash laying about ;)

I know why I bought a Montecarlo (following one round Castle Coombe in the summer of 1986 in my rather pathetic X1/9! ), I just can't figure out why I bought that particular POS that swallows boxes and boxes of new parts and never seems to improve! :(
Too late - it's part of the family now

Yes it has a volumex engine with the volumex supercharger, Nathan Dalhammer (who I bought the car from) put it together. Its your standard VX setup.

After messing with X1/9's for nearly 17 years, I needed a change.
I haven't regreted it for a second. :D

I had been driving around an 89 Jetta (Bora) for a year. It was so god-awful boring. Before that I had an 86 GTI and a 78 Beta Coupe. I realized that german cars are fun and reliable but have no soul.
My father has had a 77 Scorpion for nearly 10 years, but hasn't driven it much because he's making it with a 2000 IE motor. And I've always wanted it. Our partner in the Fiat Spider racecar had this absolutely beautiful 76 Scorpion with interior work done (at great expense). He decided to sell it, and I just couldn't justify what he wanted for it (especially considering it didn't run, brakes were locked, and things were left apart). About 4-6 months later he said he was going to sell it to some guy he knew for (half of the other price), but he wanted to offer it to me first. I said, "I can write you a check for the full amount now, I'll come right over".
The car had many problems, but is much better now since my father and I work on it. Still looking for odds and ends.
