Anyone out there run a Fulvia 2c Berlina? as I'm feeling lonely! I'm in the UK and have 1 of only 2 that turn up at meetings, mine is a 1965/66 (Registered 1/1/1966) As spec except for transistorised igniton and fitted with Dellorto 32DLa's.
The other 2c is a 1967 but fitted with a 1300 engine and used for Classic Rallying, last year it took part in the Historique Monte Carlo.
In September 2006, on the way from England via Cannes to Turin for the 100th Anniversary Celebrations of Lancia, we met up with an American Lancisti with an Italian Friend by the side of the road, (can't remember where) who was very interested to see a RHD 2c, he has at least 2 LHD 2c's in the USA, although I met him later in Turin, it was such a whirl of a fantastic week I forget to get his name and address, anyone any idea who he might be?

Hi Brian,
I'm working on a registry of Fulvias in the US & Canada. I've got all of the cars of ALC members and some others as well, but I certainly don't believe I have all the cars in the US--my current total count of berlinas is 14.
I don't know anyone who owns a pair of 2Cs. I list only one owner with 2 berlinas: a 1,2 column shift and a 1,2 leva lunga. So, if you find out who owns two 2Cs, please let me know.

Thanks for your reply Ed,
I might have been mistaken in thinking he had 2 x 2c's, it might have been one 2c and a series 2 but certainly it was one 2c with a Column gearchange as he hadn't seen one in RHD before, who owns the 2c? perhaps I might recognise the name & I can compare it with the list of participants of the "Lancia Turin International Meeting 2006". two of my photos were taken at the Fiat test track at La Mandria outside Turin, where they did a lot of development work on the integrale; 2 were taken on our way back over the Alps heading for Grenoble, the last photo with the other 2c (first time I've ever been behind another 2c!) was on the way back from our blast around Turin with a Police Motorcycle escort stopping all the traffic so that we didn't have to bother with stopping at red lights, brilliant.

Brian,
I know of three 2Cs in the US/Canada, 1 each owned by Tomas Lacosta, JH Dodsworth, and Michael Seidman. None of them also has another Fulvia berlina (that I know of). But, as I say, I'm quite sure that there are any number of cars I don't know of yet--more than one of which may be a 2C.
And while I didn't get over to the Centenario, I did hear that the escorted drives through Torino were quite amazing--"addictive" was the word used IIRC.
Best,
Ed

Hi Ed,
Thank you for the information, I've just check the participants list but none of the names you gave are shown as participants, so there must still be more 2c's to find out there:)
It severely broke the bank to attend at Turin, but it was worth every penny.
Few more photos.

Hi Brian,
Thanks for the photos. The first one is a gem in itself: we're looking out the windscreen (I assume it's Fay) at the tail of another Fulvia 2C with an Aurelia Spider in front; to the right, there are two 037s following an Integrale, and framed in the wing mirror is a Aprilia (could be an Ardea) and a Fulvia HF. Brilliant.
And the third photo is a remarkable demonstration of the sheer indomitability of the human spirit--an adult occupying the rear seat of a Fulvia coupe.
I actually had the luxury of wading through a few dozen Centenario photos a few weeks ago. I do the art direction for Lanciana, the ALC quarterly, and we did an article on the Centenario in the Fall 2007 issue; the editor, Donald Osborne was fortunate enough to attend and took some great photos of the event.
I'll keep searching for those missing 2Cs, In the meantime, I feel the need to go for a drive...
Cheers,
Ed

Hi Ed,
Pleased you like the photos, Yes, taken from inside "Fay" there was a red integrale, another UK car in front of the two 037's, but I think he must have let the 037s through, the car in front of the o37s in my last post is in fact an all singing, dancing , fire breathing S4! (see photo 5, in the Piazza Castello) Behind in the mirror it's an Aprilia from the UK, must admit, hard to tell from that view. The 2c in front belonged to an Italian, & it was immaculate.
The Adult occupying the back seat of the Coupe is probably one uf the UK lot, (the Fulvia is also one of ours) who came minus a car and was hitching a ride, it was worth suffering the pain for that drive.
Photo 1 was between Boulogne and Calais on the way down to Turin, note the shell holes in the Sherman Tanks turret. Photo 2 is in the Arsenale, Photo 3 of the New Fulvia is at the Biscaretti Museum Turin, photo 4 is in the wonderful location of the Via Roma leading to the Piazza San Carlo, where all the cars were displayed.
Is that edition of "Lanciana" available as a download by any chance?
Although I was only taking photos for myself, I took about 500, thank the lord for digital cameras:D
Hope your driving weather is better than here, it's been raining for days and everywhere's waterlogged with many places around the country flooded.
Enjoy your drive.

Hi Brian,
Thanks for the additional photos; Torino is a magnificent city, and the perfect backdrop for an event like the Centenario.
I'm afraid the ALC web site is a pretty sad affair, so we have no way of posting issues of Lanciana there, but PM me with your address and I'll be happy to send you a copy of the Fall issue--I always get a few extras. I'd be very interested on your thoughts as to how the redesigned Lanciana compares to Viva Lancia! (which, unfortunately, can't be downloaded from the LMCUK web site).
As for driving weather, I hate to even say, given your rain. Here it's bright sun--literally not a cloud in the sky--low 70s F.
All best,
Ed

I have to agree that it was the event of a lifetime for us Lancia freaks. Too bad I didn't know you then, Brian.
Few more photos.
Brian, why not create an album for yourself in the Lancisti Gallery? Then you can upload all the photos you want. Once you create an album, you can then also "assign" it to other categories so it shows up there, as well (such as the "Centenario Lancia" category under "Automotive Events".

Hi Brian,

Have to agree with that. This is probably a lame reason, but the image that it presents of the ALC is one of the primary reasons I've yet to join. Why is it so bad? A proper website is incredibly easy to setup and maintain nowadays.

The ALC may have an issue with it, but I'm happy to host issues of Lanciana here at Lancisti. I'd even be happy to set up a special ALC area of the site. Easy to do. I could even host the domain separately within my account (my son owns and runs the hosting service).

I hate you. I'd rather have the lovely winter weather we had when I lived in Scotland last year than this crap we have here in Colorado. I really do love Colorado but I'm really starting to hate the winters. It snowed again last night and it's currently 19F here right now. Looking for a high of 27F today! Wooo hooo! >:D

Ed,
You do realize that there are also hundreds of Centenario photos here in the Lancisti gallery, don't you? Most are mine and, understandably, not necessarily the best compositions but they are available for anyone. Some are from others and I hope that our members will upload even more. Most have been posted in full resolution, too, if you wanted to have any of them for printing. I also have video of the Piazza event that I still need to edit.

DJ,
To a certain extent, it's a chicken and egg problem. With a relatively small membership, it's impossible to hire out for web site design or for art direction of a magazine, but without a decent site and a decent magazine, it's harder to draw new members. For the past several years Lanciana has looked like a low-budget, small club publication, with virtually no color. When a new editor took over, I volunteered to re-design it, and we managed to get the funding to go full color--something that's more affordable in this digital age. But it comes down to members volunteering--members with some design ability, some technical skill, and (not least) enough time--and with a small membership that's always tough. In the case of the web site, that'll have to be someone other than me; I don't know any of the web design programs (and don't have the time to learn), nor do I have the time to offer to take over the web site.
The ALC may have an issue with it, but I'm happy to host issues of Lanciana here at Lancisti. I'd even be happy to set up a special ALC area of the site. Easy to do. I could even host the domain separately within my account (my son owns and runs the hosting service).
Hosting access to Lanciana is a very generous offer, and one that I'll pursue, but it may indeed present some political problems. I don't know how open access to Lanciana would be greeted, as it's currently only available to ALC members (and there's the old 'why buy the cow?' question). The ALC isn't alone in this; most clubs do not make their magazine openly available on their web site--even if it's a great web site. The idea of an ALC area within Lancisti is, again, very generous of you to offer. I'll make some inquiries about this, as IMHO the ALC really does need to do something about the web site.
And I have seen your shots of Centenario in the photo gallery--very nice. For some articles, we struggle to get enough good photos with decent resolution. For the Summer issue I had a 6-page article with only screen-capture images, which meant hours trying to resuscitate them with Photoshop. For the Centenario article, the problem was exactly the opposite--how to cram in even a fraction of the great photos I had to work with.
All that said, even though image is important, a lousy web site probably is a pretty lame reason not to join the ALC.

Don't hate the player--hate the game.

Sounds like a good idea!
I think I was probably being lazy after finding how easy it is to post photos here, can't believe how easy it is!
Regarding your weather comments, if we get what are to us, cold clear days here ( maximum minus 10c) I love the weather (see Photo), I don't want it too cold, & I don't mind a little snow, it's just this God Awful overcast Grey skies, & what seems to be never ending wet in the winter here, that really hacks me off:'(

Hi, does anyone know what sort of material I should use to fabricate a steering coupler for my Berlina. The one on mine decided to retire after 46 years. There was not much left to really see what it is plus there are two very thin plates. Grateful for some ideas. We are having a major festive holiday so having to tow the car home was a fairly stressful time. Grateful for any advise.

you could try Omicron in the Uk or Cavellito in Turin, as I'm pretty sure one of them would be able to supply, as for making one yourself, the parts book say rubber disc but I'm sure it's bonded canvas and rubber, it doesn't show a metal plate, but there are 4 flanged inserts used either side of disc for the bolt holes, a total of 8, 2 bolts and washers that attach the disc to the steering shaft with 2 nuts and 2 washers, and the same to attach it to the steering coupling.
Any luck with the chassis and engines numbers yet please?

Thanks, got all the nuts & bolts but there were remnants of a very thin metal similar to the shim that you places next to the brake pads. Do apologise for not getting back to you on the chasis number as it is the holidays here. Anyway, chasis no. is 818001-032503 and the engine no. 32669. The original single Solex carb has packed it in a few years back so we have replaced it with a twin Solex from an S1. I shall try an sort some photos out soon.
Thanks for your help.

Hello,
thanks for the information.
Going by La Lancia your Normale was only about 530 from the end of the 818.000/001 Normale (1c) build, which was from Chassis Number 1001-33200, 1963-1964, do you have very much information on the model, if not I can email something.
Thinking about the steering coupling/Disc, I'll have a look at my 2c at the weekend, as I seem to recollect the metal shim you mention, I have a feeling it's there to stop the rubber/canvas disc from distorting when turning the steering wheel.
Good move fitting the twin Solex C32 PHH. probably made quite a difference compared to the twin downdraught.
What colour is your car, it looks to be Grigio Doncaster (Doncaster Grey),

Thanks Neil,
Having a look at the photo the assembly seems to be missing the 8 flanged inserts for the bolts to pass through ( No 16 on Diagram), so it's not surprising the disc is torn around the bolt holes

Thanks, for the infor, really appreciate it. As for the change on the carb, yes the difference is tremendous, traffic light racing is great.... lose out in first gear but once in 2nd on .... what a rush. The young guys here in their 1.6 love to bully an old man so it is really good, however make sure it is a short run as the car lacks the long legs.
My car was originally "Old English White" I have change it to "Jaguar Quartz".
Concerning information on my car, if it is not too much trouble I love to know more.
Thanks again.

I used heavy duty rubber floor mat and sandwich it with tin plates. So far so good. Thanks again for all the infor on this matter had a great couple of days just working on it.

Can you please post photos if you took any of how you overcame your problem.
By the way, if you go to the download library, click on Fulvia, the 4th item down is "The Fulvia Production Line" download this, as it's well worth looking at.
