Hello Everybody,

I will introduce myself and then my car.
I'm french, 23 years old and I'm living in the south west of France.

This is my first post here, I'm a Lancia Flavia Sport Zagato enthusiast and a proud owner of one piece.
My car is a 1965 Carburettor model, RHD, Grey with Red inside registered MMV1C in Uk. The car is under restoration and should be finished at the beginning of 2008.
The body will be repair as there was a small crash at the rear of the car, the paint will be new off course but following the original color of the car.
Concerning the engine, pistons, all gasket, oil pump,...are new even the crankshaft will be redone.

The only thing I need to finish the restoration is the rear bumper. If someone can help me finding one in good condition it should allow me to have my car complete.

My father also one one, 1966 model, with injection, LHD, in perfect condition, only one owner from new, and only 8700 original Kms !
There's some pictures of both car on flickr at this adress:

I would like to share experience about this model with enthusiast like me, and why not share automobilia concerning this car too (I have some adverts, magazine, ...)

At the same time the parts I wanted are:
- a rear bumper
- the 4 shock absorber ( De carbon prefered)

;)

You should be very proud of these--two Flavia Sports in the same family is truly unique. Did I understand correctly that your father has owned the fuel injected car (1 of maybe 20) from new and that it has only 8700 kms in 41 years?? Amazing.

Yes we are very proud to own this two very special design car, we bought the Injection car Two years ago in Paris to his first owner.

I still have never driven a Flavia Sport more than 8 Kms, both car are in restoration (just cosmetic for the Injection and Body/engine for the Carburettor ) so I cannot wait to drive my car...:)

Thanks to Omicron I found a lot of parts for my car, I'm still searching for a complete thermostat housing for my Carb Flavia Sport 1.8 if you have one for sale please let me know by email at this adress: contact(at)auxchateauxdusudouest(dot)com

Do you know if this part is particular to that car or if I can find the same housing on another model ?

I'm also looking for a rear bumper in as good condition as possible.

I hope there will be more reply than in the past, this forum doesn t look so alive that's strange as it is well done, beautiful...

All the best

I'm glad to learn that you're making progress with your car, but I must say that I'm not surprised that there haven't been more responses to your questions.

As you know, there are very few Flavia Sports around--even many lancisti aren't familiar with the car. And you're asking some questions that only another Flavia Sport owner would be able to answer. So while I can understand your frustration with this forum, I'm not sure you'll get many responses anywhere.

That said, however, I do wish you good luck.

Hi 1,6 HF,

Thank you for your reply and explanation on why people are not answering to my questions.

I agree with you maybe it is due to the fact that the car is pretty rare. I just thought it was strange that on a good and big forum like Lancisti there is not more Flavia Sport owners ;)

Thanks for your wishes I think that the restoration will continu for another year before to be able to drive the car... I will let you know and post some pictures when it will be in better condition.

I have a spare parts book that I might sell if you need one that will clarify all the compatability issues you might have it's not cheap though especially when shipping is involved it's quite heavy!

a lot of parts are peculiar to the sport as only the earliest pf coupe and vignale with 1500 engine had a similar twin carb layout and they were on solexes, I think, where as a lot of 1.8 sports used webers

Dear Rossocorsa,

I already have the spare parts book thank you for offering yours for sale.

Even with that book and the workshop manual I'm not 100% sure that the thermostat housing is only for the Flavia Sport and not also for PF Coupé or Vignale...
One thing is sure it is not the same than Injection cars as my father's car have not this thermostat housing.

You are right my Flavia Sport Zagato is a 1.8 liters with twin Weber Carb 40 DCN 5 to be precise ).

That's very hard to have informations on the Flavia Zagato Sport, even at the Zagato factory they have no files on cars produced that's a shame and at the same time a pleasure to find sometimes an information on our cars.

Best Regards

there are a LOT of differences in detail between carb and injection there are even differences with engine bearing sizes etc let alone what can been seen on the outside typical Lancia over engineering

I'm working on my Flavia, today we started the engine and we are searching for the complete setting for Weber 40 DCN 5 to be sure we set it well as the car is not running as expected with everything redone or new inside the engine.

If someone have the right setting for my carbs I'll be glad to check my carbs.

Best regards

Thank you for your research Rossocorsa, it seems to be hard to find data on the 40 DCN 5 Weber

I know it doesn't help much with the settings you need but the 40 DCN is included in the Weber Carb file (http://www.lancisti.net/index.php?ind=downloads&op=entry_view&iden=7) in the downloads section.

It has an exploded view and a parts list.

Thanks Dj, it is helpfull to have this explode view even if there's no setting.

This may seem like a long way around, but if it were me, I'd join the American Lancia Club and post my questions in their magazine Lanciana or call one of the two members of that club who own Flavia Sports. There are also very knowledgeable technical advisors there who'd be happy to help you. Particularly for the older cars the ALC is a great resource.
