Hi there, does anyone have any photos from the Lancia in the Piazza, in Covent Garden over the weekend? I would love to see some.

I was there with our Stratos, parked up to the replica prototype (that is one of the Michael Jackson Moonwalker bodyshells) on a Fiat X1/9 floor/chassis (same wheelbase) with X1/9 SOHC engine.

Some photos here.

Plenty of pictures of surroundings and the general public, just to give an idea of atmosphere. Shot after shot of cars would get tedious! There were several performances of various Puccini arias performed by people from the Royal Opera Company resident at Covent Garden.

What a truly remarkable event! Many thanks for the photos (with the possible exception of the mime).

Fantastic, thanks very much, I'm looking forward to seeing more pop up around the place. Aren't those B20s beautiful.

There was an article about that X1/9 engined Stratos prototype replica in the Classic and Sports car mag a few months ago, and some good photos. What I wouldn't give for one of those!!

One of the nice things about this event in particular, apart from the fact that very few car clubs are allowed into this area (it helps to have a Lancia fan & owner on the management team) is that the public get involved.

Normal car shows are only visited by car enthusiasts and their suffering spouses/children, this event was visited not only by the owners of the cars on display, and other Lancia enthusiasts who had seen the event advertised, but a lot of the people were either tourists or Londoners who were passing through Covent Garden minding their own business.

Now a car enthusiast will ask you one set of questions, everyone can do an impression of a car club anorak, probably with a slightly nasal voice, querying why your 1963 car has wheel nuts only used on a 1965 model, whereas the general public asks a set of very different questions... How much?, how fast? "what'll she do mista?", how old? really? I never knew that?...

Plus there were plenty of things to look at apart from cars - Covent Garden is a bustling market, and there are plenty of touristy things to look at and see within easy walking distance. Makes a nice change from an anonymous purpose-built, out-of-town hotel cum conference centre or county showground!
