Quick Question-
Did folding headlights come standard on Scorpions in the US? If so, have most of them been adapted or replaced with fixed headlights?

Yes, all Scorpions originally came with pop-up headlights. Many of them have been converted but I don't think I'd say MOST of them have. But that might be an interesting poll to run.

Good Idea, will do.

Hey, what happened to the concept of "vote early, vote often"? I have 2 Scorpions but was only allowed a single vote.

Anyway, my stock Scorpion has the original pop-up lights, required as I understand by the US Dept. of Transportation to meet the minimum headlight height requirement. Other manufacturers (MG comes to mind) simply jacked up the ride height, possibly also to meet the DOT bumper height requirements.

My other Scorpion has quad headlights, and far better lighting. I prefer the quad headlight appearance, a la 037 Stradale.

what do you use to make a scorpion 4 headlight, that's what I'll do to mine if enough stuff breaks up front (headlight motor, noseband, come up with an 82 grill).

We can now produce a twin headlamp conversion. The kit includes 1 pair of modern Lancia headlamps, modified noseband corners, a replacement grille, the centre noseband and the various bracketry needed to fit them.

I used the headlight brackets from an '81 Honda Accord, since they had about the right center to center spacing and stagger. Some minor sheetmetal work was required to both the brackets and the car. I can probably dig up some photos if you like.

Others have used Beta and Delta light assemblies. I'm not a aware of a quad headlight conversion kit.

Ours is a 4 lamp conversion using modified Integrale Evoluzione headlamps.

Soon I hope to offer an alternative using more common and hence cheaper lamp units, and a front bumper with provision for a round driving / fog lamp.

In the Disney movie "Herbie Goes to Monte Carlo," there is a light blue Lancia. Its folding headlights dont resemble any of the other ones that I have seen. Is the movie car the odd one out, or have I just not seen enough Scorpions to know?

I think the original Quad lamp kit came with what looks like a Delta Grill- and I think that one was produced by Scorpion Reproductions in the UK.

(Why it was called Scorpion Reproductions, and in the UK at that, I have no idea. It was apparently a real outfit though, I've seen brochures)

I found the picture on the internet. It is quite hard to find a picture which works when scaled down to a small size and your photo works well. I hope you don't mind me using it.

Scorpion Reproductions did produce a quad-lamp kit. We have all the moulds and Montecarlo stock and are starting manufacture once more.

I see you have a 037 or similar headlamp kit. How much is it and do you ship to the U.S.? Thanks, hahnmgh63

You're right. In "Herbie..." the Scorpion has an extra section in the pop-ups. When the headlights are retracted you don't even see bulbs. It had an extra black section and then a (flimsyly attached) headlight section. I'd do that to mine if I were on drugs. Actually the reason I'm sure was to make "Giselle" look more feminine.

I thought I was the only one who noticed.

Also love the couple of Statoses (Stratosus, Stratii, ???) in the film.
