Ive managed to misplace my note of how much (in litres) 4.1 kg of oil is. Anybody tell me?

This reminds me of a joke incidentally, and because im bored ill tell it...

A man is flying in a hot air balloon and realizes he is lost. He reduces height and spots a man down below. He lowers the balloon further and shouts, "Excuse me, can you tell me where I am?"

The man below said, "Yes, you're in a hot air balloon, hovering 30 feet above this field."

"You must be an engineer," said the balloonist.

"I am," replied the man. "How did you know?"

"Well," said the balloonist, "everything you have told me is technically correct, but it's of absolutely no use to anyone."

The man below said, "You must be in management."

"I am," replied the balloonist, "but how did you know?"

"Well," said the man, "you don't know where you are, or where you're going, but you expect me to be able to help. You're in the same position you were before we met, but now it's my fault."

Hmmmm I think 1 cubic metre engine oil equals 880kg..... so I'm sure you can work it out from there

there are 1,000 liters in a cubic meter. So if there are 880 kg per cubic meter (1,000 liters) that would make 0.88 kg per liter (880 divided by 1,000).
Dividing 4.1 kg by 0.88 kg/liter would result in 4.659 liters (or 4.659 litres).

 Head explodes

Is the 1000 litres in a cubic metre a commonly known thing that I have been unaware of until now?

Basic numeracy skills have been lost.

And im supposed to be a software engineer...

a little piece of free software that makes all those conversions for me.

Found the following, won't cause your head to explode :!:
Only calculates to 1 decimal place though.

(it calculated 4.6 liters when I selected Lubricating Oil)

Thats dead handy. Cheers. Would you believe this service has turned into a mini epic... its always the easy jobs that prove a PITA. First thing - friend of mine has stolen my sump key. Second thing - when borrowed sump key discovered plug was err. a bit stuck. Third thing - oil filter proved massively resistent to the usual being stabbed and turned. Fourth thing - too much oil in engine I think - its almost filled a 5 litre can and t heres still a drip tray full under the car. Last thing - refilled oil in the dark, and bah. the oil didnt drain down fast enough or I didnt pour it slow enough :) spillage. So now I dont know how much oil is actually in the engine thanks to the half a dipstick still stuck in the tube. At that point I decided I was having a bad day. Tomorrow - get the remains of that dipstick either out, or at the very least into the sump, check the oil level, finish the job!

These things are sent to try us....
