View Full Version : Idle air adjustement screw

The idle air adjustment screw in my Weber "Big Throat" throttle body protrudes so far into the venturi when it's screwed in most of the way that it interferes with the butterfly actuation. Can this be ground down a bit on the end without harming anything? It appears to me that it could be because it has a good taper to it and the end isn't sealing against anything.

Between this and your other post about the surging idle, I'm relatively sure you have a vacuum leak, DJ.
Your screw should not be turned in that far, the motor should stall. Check the little hoses going to the plenum by pinching them off, and make sure the TB is sealed down good and the phenolic intake spacer is sealed between the plenum and head.
