OK, I noticed some chatter yesterday and while inspecting the clutch release lever mechanism on top of the bellhousing I noticed that there is no return spring as is indicated in my manual. Replacing it would not be a problem but for the life of me I cannot see where it is supposed to attach. I see the ring on the arm itself but I cannot tell where the other end should attach. It is all SOOOOOOOOO close to the radiator fan I cannot see another point to mount. Any advice? Thanks.

Jon, The spring runs at a 30 degree angle to the arm. Draw an imaginary line from the spring hole to center of the radiator. There is a tab with a small spring attachment hole bolted to the bell housing or starter.

Thanks Jim, I will take another look. Is the tab with the spring hole bolted to something or integral to something. IE is is a separate little piece of metal that may be missing? I am sure I can fab something if it is missing.

The tab is held on by the upper starter bolt.
