That for a '76 S1 [I've read it matters]. Also read an Alfa GTV-6 is a "fit".
Ancient article said I.A.P. had them . Anyone know ? Thanks .

Yes, the Alfa cap is actually IMO better than the stock cap - IAP and other sources have them, it's a sort of triangular "tricorn" shape in the middlle rather than the straight bar on the stock cap.

yup, I've used one for years.... The keys don't 'match' the Pinin style ones, but it works and looks great. It doesn't hurt that they are (were?) very cheap as well.

Real OEM GTV-6 gas caps are now quiet pricey and very difficult to find. You may want to try contacting the Alfa Parts Exchange (APE) located in Tracy, CA. They just *may* have one available. You can find their contact info on the web. HTH.

So then use a Milano cap? They look different on the outside, but IIRC they are interchangable on the Alfas so a Milano cap OUGHT to fit on a Scorpion. I don't have one here to verify, should be easy to find though. Milanos are everywherem, at least compared to GTV6's.

Great point. Yes the Afla-75 (aka Milano) gas cap does indeed fit on a Scorpion. They are quite a bit cheaper and easier to source (at least for the time being) than the GTV-6/GTV Alfetta cap. The Milano cap has a snap in barrel lock unit so even if you find one without a lock and key you may be able to get a brand new lock & matching keys from IAP or other Alfa parts sources.
As a side note more and more Milanos are going away to meet their maker each year with passing each year and that car's parts are rapidly becoming unobtainium.

What does the Milano in? I had one of the local Alfisti come by two years ago with FOUR rusty jacking points, he did not bring his own metal as requested so I torch cut up a 20lb propane tank and we beat the metal flat with a sledgehammer (MAN those are REALLY tough!) an managed to weld up new pads on the jacking points, not easy because all the surrounding metal going up into the unibody was really really bad. Atl east this particular Milano looked like it was rotting from the jacking points upwards, but I haven't seen enough of them to know if that's the normal way they die. Is it?

Hi Will,
Rust can often do the Alfa 75/ Milano in Europe, UK and the East Coast USA , not so much here on the West Coast USA, Central-Southern Italy or other "dry" climates though, just like most other cars of the same or earlier period. All the typical places like fender arches and the rockers, jack points that you mentioned, and other box sections are places where body cancer can grow on a Milano. The main thing is to keep these cars clean and have a nice place like a garage for them to dry off/ out when they do get wet. Sitting around outside all year round is bad for the health of a Milano (and most cars that I know of), they need to be driven and maintained.
IMHO/ and from experience the factors that do the Milano in addition to rust are the following (not in any order):
1) High cost of maintaining one (and by not maintaining one the cost is even higher!)
2) Lack of parts sources (the rear drive line guibo for example is almost NLA)*
3) Lack of interest in the car outside the Alfa enthusiast world.
* As a side note I understand from a local Italian car repair shop that the Alfa Romeo factory has now opened it's parts bins up to the public and is directly selling off many of old Alfa parts, including the Alfa Sud, Alfa 33, Alfa 75, 156, 164, ect....whatever they have left on a model that they currently aren't making or one they are about to stop production on.
Have a great weekend,
Tim

BTW: To keep this thread on track with it's original topic I do have an Alfa 75-Milano locking gas cap (no matching key available) and it does in fact fit on a Scorpion so if anyone needs it is available for $10.00. I just want to clear off some much needed shelf space to make room for more parts/projects.
I would strongly suggest to try calling Larry Sr. at the above mentioned Alfa Parts Exchange (APE) as he just may have an original GTV-6 cap with a key.
