Has anyone any experiences to share on which tyres are best for 6x14 Cromadora's? and does anyone need a set of VGC (recently refurbished) steel wheels with almost new Pirelli P4's?

6" wide wheels can take tire widths from about 165 to 205.
But your question is a bit like asking "how big is a rock?" A tire choice question can't really be answered without knowing: for what car? what was the original tire size? street or competition? has the gearing been changed? are the wheel wells stock? &c.

Oh, sorry, didn't notice it was you at first; obviously the car in question is an S2 Fulvia sport with original tires of 165/80-14. The 'upsize' tire would be a 185/70-14, of which there are any number of good choices. You could even stay with 165/80: Michelin has re-issued XAS in that size. They cost the earth, but they're great tires and period correct.
But have you confirmed that the 6 x 14s will fit in the Sport wheel wells? The S2 coupes have some clearance issues with 6x14. Typically the 6x14 Cromodoras only really fit on the 1600HF coupe bodyshell (S2 HFs or Montecarlos); most people with 'standard' cars opt for the Flavia Cromodoras, which are 5.5x14. But this may just be a coupe issue; I don't know how it translates to the Fulvia Sport.
Good luck

Thanks for responding, the 6Jx14 were an option on the 1600 Zagato so should be fine, the stock tyre size was 175x65 I believe. As you say the XAS is available but are£140 each as opposed to £40-00 for a Falken tyre. By the way the headlininer is in, not as bad as I expected. The toughest part was getting the fifties sewing m/c to behave, I have my wife to thank for getting through that!!!

you can spoil the balance of a car going for too wide an option on tyres I'd reckone you'd be as well to stick with 165 or 175/80x14 more than enough grip for fun, not too heavy steering, nicely balanced, less problems in the wet and less risk of clearance issues

Glad to hear the headliner worked out.
I didn't know that the 6x14 Cromodoras were optional on the 1600 Sport. In any case, all of my literature has the stock tire size as a 165/80-14. This essentially gives you a choice of either 165/80-14 or 185/70-14.
I'd still be careful with clearances if you choose the 185/70s; they will, of course, give you more lateral grip but will afffect steering response somewhat.
Good luck.
