Greetings all-

I'm new to the forum, but i've got something to share with you.

I just finished building the site for my '76 Scorpion Elettrico. Yes ELECTRIC.
It's been converted to a DC motor that runs on 144v worth of lead acid batteries.
Rather than bore you with the details here, check it out at:

www.plugzen.com (http://www.plugzen.com)

I welcome any questions/suggestions/criticisms you might have.

Cheers-
tony

Some of us have heard about this car, (or atr least an electric conversion, I'm ASSUMING it's the same car) but never seen pictures. Thanks for sharing. It's always interesting to see someone who's got something different. I guess we won't see any posts from you lamenting dim headlights, now will we?

PS> I got all excited when I read "EV" and my brain somehow made it into "ECV"!!!

That's great that you've heard of it. I can't imagine there is another out there, but I would love to find it if there is.

Actually, I have an ongoing dim headlight problem.

In the EV system, there are 24 batteries in the "traction" pack that string together in a series to make 144volts. There is a seperate single 12v battery to run the headlights, brakelights, etc. The problem comes in the fact that the electric motor doesn't have an alternator, therefore there is not a constant charge running to the 12v aux battery. 25 batteries in the car and my headlights can still dim out. currently I charge the aux battery on a seperate 12v charger in my house and swap it for a fresh one.

Many EVs have a DC/DC converter that will step the power down from "traction" voltage to 12v. mine unfortunately does not...yet.I hope to add one in the next couple of months, but there are higher priorities on the list right now.

Today a friend and fellow Scorpion owner and I gave it a brake overhaul (new rotors, hoses, caliper rebuild). I finally feel confident the car will stop when I need it to. You would not believe the multiple colors of mixed fluids that came out of the system. From bright yellow to opaque black. I'll try to get some photos up in my journal.

btw- what's ECV?
