HI
have any of you chaps had any involvment with rhd delta inter evo`s ?
After saving for a couple of years and the kids grown up a bit I have about £11k to spend on a nice car. Having had Jag e-types, 323I bmw, 911rsl and a delta hf turbo in the past 20 years decided a nice evo was the way to go.
I have seen in my price range some nice evo 1`s and the odd evo 2 but have found what may be a nice evo 1 rhd from new (whallys) with leather and air con and 270 bhp. Dose the rhd convershion spoil the car ? or would a standard evo1 or 2 be better ?
any help would be apreciated.
all the best

no experience myself but everyone says that the converted cars are not so good not least because they don't retain an integrale steering rack. it is no hardship to drive lhd you soon get used to it, I'd find a nice lhd car as in the long run originality always pays

Some of the early conversions weren't very good. Some use the fiat regatta rack and you can use either the smaller engined delta's rack or one off a dedra. I own a rhd 16v and use it as a real every day car so lhd would be a pain in the butt!

If it is going to be a weekender then get a lhd as there are lots more of them around. A lot of people that criticise the rhd have not driven them but I have never driven a lhd so can't comment about the differences. Mine was converted to rhd by whalleys pretty early on in its life so if this one was done by them then it shouldn't be too bad. The wiring can be a problem as the wires often get stretched in moving the dashboard around. You also need to make sure that everything is bolted in securely and blanking plates have been used so there isn't a draft coming up the footwell from where the steering and pedal boxes used to be.

Hi. I've just bought a LHD Evo2, having only ever driven RHD cars before it. I use mine as a weekend car and it doesn't give me any problems converting from RHD to LHD. Think about it this way...The only thing you do differently is to change gear with your right hand. I cracked it on the test drive, so i'm sure you wouldn't have any problems with left hand drive. And! There are more LHD 'Grales about.

Hello,
I drive a standard 8V integrale as my road car. Only problems with lhd are paying at car parks and road tolls if driving solo and passengers hate being stranded out there without a steering wheel to hide behind (mainly women of course).
The brakes loose their feel with the linkage needed for rhd (just looking at the linkage will convince you that it is not great).

Good luck, Leo
