Could anyone tell me what sort of bulbs are needed for the backlighting of the dials?

At the moment I can't even consider going out at night in it as I can't see what speed I'm doing!!! Hopefully a new set of bulbs could do the trick.

Hi Osian.

I had the same issue, and it turned out NOT to be the bulbs. I put all new bulbs in and still couldn't read the instruments at night.

I next tried cleaning the contacts on the panel light rheostat, and that didn't appreciably help either.

Only when I bridged around the rheostat entirely did I get enough illumination to see the instruments at night. I drive a lot at night, and haven't missed no longer being able to dim the panel lights.

On my LHD Series One, the panel light rheostat is a small chrome knob on the fascia above the steering column, and below the tachometer. Its one of the two knobs (the other is the reset knob for the trip odometer) that are also used to hold the "wood" fascia on that side of the car.

If the rheostat isn't the guilty party in your case, reply back and I'll see if I can find a spec for the panel bulbs.

Regards

I just checked the spec on the Fulvia's instrument panel bulbs. On mine, they are: Wagner #17053

Hope this helps.

Regards.

Thanks for your reply, I'll go and try that and report back on my findings.

It would have taken me ages to get to that stage! This is why I love this forum!!! ;D ;D ;D
