Hi
I'm not sure whether you knew or not, but Paul Millett and I had our cars filmed for a TV program on Men & Motors Channel.
The program is "Used Car Roadshow" with Penny Mallory and Jason Dawe (both used to be on 5th Gear/Top Gear).
There is a spot on the show called "Teenage Kicks" about cars from the 70/80s that Jason craved after, couldn't afford then, but can now.
It was filmed at the Ace Cafe in London a few weeks back and is being shown on Monday 28th August at 9pm and 1am on Tuesday morning.
I will be looking forward to seeing them and seeing what they have to say about our beloved cars!

I'll be setting the video!

Excellent! Anytbody in the UK have a S2 Tivo /DVR/ cap card or some other method that can make this to file so we can see it? (or at least the relevant parts?)

Absolutely and especially after ITV took the decision to take Men & Motors off freeview, replacing it with a flipping quiz channel! Can't get cable out in the sticks where I live, and don't really want Sky as don't watch enough TV to warrant the costs! :)
Cheers!

I should be able to sort out a copy in a suitable format - maybe DJ could put it in the downloads section?

What a disappointment! :(
About 2 minutes right at the end of the show, Penny knocked the colour of Chris' car and they pretty much said that they didn't sell many cos they were expensive, are rare, a good one costs between £6k and £8k (anyone seen/paid this much??!!) and not to expect them to drive like a modern car (like, duh?!).
If anyone is interested I can still transfer it, but TBH it's a waste of time IMHO.

Hello DK,
Sounds a bit dissapointing, but please post the clip.
Paul Millet thinks it was ok though - http://www.montecarlo.org.uk/discus/messages/1/463.html?1156852573

I set the new DVR to record that but haven't watched it yet. Also haven't figured out how to copy off things from it yet. If you have the clip you can submit it to the DL section yourself. You don't need me for that. I just have to approve the submittal before it shows up in the database.

I would like to see it because I've never seen Chris or Paul's cars and I'm not likely to in the near future.
DJ: If your DVR is a Tivo, and a new one (S2) then this is dead easy, you plug a network adapter into the back of the machine and plug a network cable into that. I use a little Linksys adapter (about $50). Then you can use the machine setup menu to create an IP address or use DCHP, then just shit the files...er....upload....anywhere you want or transfer them to your computer via the Tivo Desktop software which is free from Tivo. I don't think I'm as tech-savvy as you and it took me about 30 minutes to figure it all out. BUT the files are big and slow to move, so you probably want to recompress/reformat them on your laptop before uploading them, for that I use MediaCoder which my (PC) machines LOVE! (also free)

Love the coupe tops,
Chris' steerring wheel (what is that?)
The Daytonas, and Paul's gate shifter. Gate shifter??
I hope you all get 8K Sterling for your cars, and maybe the chance to kick that smarmy bitch in the head. At least the fat guy can appreciate a nice car when he sees one!

Indeed - it's just a shame he can't tell the difference between rear- and mid-engine! ::)

Thanks for doing that DK,
Nice photography but the soundtrack was just junk. The fat guy's parent's house must have been a "dive".
No mention of Paul Millet's modification extremism and hardly a look at his car, perhaps because it is so far from standard.

and maybe the chance to kick that smarmy bitch in the head.
It's hardly surprising that she hasn't got a good word for Lancias, after all her father rallied Fords in the seventies when Lancia and Fiat all but cleaned up the decade; and she herself rallied Fords in the late eighties/early nineties when Lancia smashed all opposition. I think it's a Ford rallying thing, mentioning no names but his son has all of a sudden got a Works Ford drive having been on the minds of the Works teams for hmmm, must have been years, not.

The colour is Verde Beta. I've only seen 2 others the same.
My steering wheel is from around the period and is a Mota-Lita.

At least our cars got some media exposure on this show although it is questionable if it is positive or not. All I know is that when I drive my Scorpion (same "mint" green, Duco paint code Verde 322) around town a lot of people look and a few even roll down their windows at the stop lights to ask about the car and what the heck it is! Always a kick driving the Scorpion. In fact my girl friend and me are heading up to wine country in the Scorpion for the long weekend...hopefully it will be a positive adventure! :)
Chris,
That Mota-Lita wheel is darn nice and looks to be be very well machined/built! I've never seen one in person. FYI: one was up for auction on E-bay(UK) with a Lancia horn push last month it looked just like yours. *If* I remember correctly it finnaly sold for what amounted to be well over $200 US. Evidently these Mota-Lita wheels found there way on few Lancias of the period including the Stratos. Not sure if they were a factory option, or dealer/after market fittment? At any rate it is a fantastic looking "period" steering wheel on the Monte IMHO. Enjoy and please fill us in on the events in Torino.
Ciao,
Tim

No kidding- the only scorpion green I remember seeing is that metallic lime green. I don't recall even seeing pictures of that funky Beta verde color before. Go figure?
