FINALLY!
Not only was I NOT the ONLY Lancia at the Vintage races Sunday, but there was
actually THREE Betas at the Vintage races sunday! our newest addition 82 Zag,
our friends Eric and George in her 81 Zag and the guy that bought John
Montgomery's HPE drove it down from Cleveland, saddly, I didn't have the
opportunity to run into and meet him as he parked in general parking and I
never ran into him on the show field or around his car throughout the 5 hours I
was able to hang there. There was also a very "VERY" nice 308 GTS, (we all know
who's that was! snicker), a Testostrone, about 4 Fiat Spider 124/2000's, an
X1/9 and low and behold, the first Topolino (sp??), I have ever seen in real
life outside a barn on it's belley in cow poop covered in bird dung! LOL! I
never got a close look at it as they puffed heavy oil smoke indian signals,
(really....REALLY BAD rings I am guessing), all over the grounds as they drove
it constantly, not stopping the whole time I was there. It wore a recent copper
paint job and was the uglier rounded body style with really tall tires/rims for
the size of the body shell. and I musent forget the 8 Alfas on track and the loan Fiat 124 Coupe!
Not a bad turn out of Italin stuff considering no
advertising and it being an all Brittish showdown featuring MG weekend. I was
suprised at how many people remembered me and how many Fiat friends I have out
there it has been so long since I made it out of the house for any shows like
that! It was quite the pleasurable day I must say! ;D I am really looking
forward to the Italian Gathering in Dublin Ohio Labor day weekend, I may even
wash the Zag and dust out the interior this time! It might even get a coat of
wax on it if time/body permits......yes my friends, you read it right, I
committed the altimate sin, I did indeed take the Zag to the Concoures show
filthy, covered in bugs, stone and brake dust! it even had a splash of rubber
from a burnout a few weeks ago and mud splattered on the lower
sides!......That's Soooooo unlike me! but hey, at least I made it! LOL!
